On September 25th, Floyd Mayweather will return to the ring to compete in yet another exhibition fight at Saitama Super Arena, Japan. The last time Mayweather fought inside the Saitama Super Arena, was on 31st December 2018. The boxer, then 42, had gone up against the Japanese Professional Kickboxer and Mixed Martial Artist, and then 20-year-old Tenshin Nasukawa.

This time around ‘TBE’, 45, will face Rizin opponent Mikuru Asakura, aged 30: a professional MMA fighter with no solid background in boxing. The event has barely started and already Asakura’s corner is urging Mayweather to ponder on the obstacles he would face if it were an MMA fight and not boxing.

Does such a proposal not admit Asakura’s defeat on his part way prior to Mayweather and him being in the ring? Anyway, ‘TBE’ made an allusion to Conor McGregor whom he fought in 2017, and gave a firm reply to Asakura, almost reiterating the definition of staying in power.

No different from Conor McGregor, Floyd Mayweather is always in control

In his response to Asakura, Mayweather expressed a series of thoughts that pointed at his own ‘social position’ in the economy of boxing.

Mayweather answers by saying, “My thing has always been this. If Rizin wanted me to do MMA, they would have paid for MMA. They paid for boxing. And remember, I’m the A-side. So, when you have the A-side, you call all the shots.”

“I burst my a** and work extremely hard to be the boss. No different from Conor McGregor. Floyd Mayweather is always the boss, always in control.”

“… I put in my hard work to be the boss, to make you guys do what I want you to do. Now once again, September 25th, you’re gonna have to do what I want you to do. So, if I chose MMA I would be the best. But boxing has happened to come around before MMA, so I’m the best,” he concluded.
