“Those Boxing Guys Used Him”: UFC Legend ‘Begged’ Francis Ngannou Not to Get Into Bed With Tyson Fury

When the news of former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou vacating his title and leaving the organization came out, people were left stunned. At that time, numerous theories came out and everyone was left speculating about the reason for Ngannou’s departure. This prompted Ngannou to make a video and make everything clear. At that time, he revealed that his act of leaving UFC was not just for money. Ngannou criticized the UFC’s contract rigidity which he deemed restrictive and limited his freedom.

While Ngannou had demanded a clause allowing him to compete in a crossover boxing fight in his contract negotiations, it fell through due to other demands regarding fighter pay, healthcare, and sponsorship.

Since then a lot has happened, Tyson Fury had also called him out for a fight, but it went nowhere. UFC legend Chael Sonnen recently made some comments regarding the situation which blew up. So he made another video, explaining his stance, in which he practically begged Ngannou to go back to UFC.

Chael Sonnen warns Francis Ngannou about boxing promoters and Tyson Fury

According to former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen, Francis Ngannou should have been more cautious about working with boxing promoters. “I think those boxing guys used him,” said Sonnen. He further said that he does not think they did anything wrong. And that promoters were very obvious and transparent about using him.

Sonnen had previously warned Ngannou not to fall for the allure of working with boxing promoters, and the Tyson Fury fight. “They don’t mean it. They don’t have any pull, they don’t have any creativity,” he said.

Sonnen claimed that Ngannou got caught up in the allure that Tyson Fury’s name is so big that he would have some pull. But at the end of the day, control is in the hand of promoters.

“Tyson gets told here’s who you’re fighting here’s when you’re fighting them, here’s the corner that you’re in, here’s the robe you’re going to wear,” the former UFC fighter said.

As for Ngannou’s next fight, Sonnen predicts that it will be in the UFC. “Francis, the next fight I predict for you will be in the UFC,” he said.

Sonnen shares his thoughts on Dana White closing doors for Ngannou

Former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen shared his thoughts on Francis Ngannou’s potential return to the promotion. Ngannou left the UFC earlier this year after failing to reach an agreement with his contract negotiations.

However, he has claimed to be in talks with multiple MMA promotions and also entertains plans to box against Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder. He had become a hot commodity for sponsors after leaving UFC. Even Misfits promoter gave him an interesting offer while claiming that they were in to sign Ngannou.

While UFC President Dana White has shut down the possibility of Ngannou returning to the promotion, Sonnen believes it’s all part of a negotiation tactic.

He also suggested that it was time for Ngannou to re-establish contact with White. Despite White’s dismissal, Ngannou seems unperturbed and stated that it was his decision to make in an interview with ESPN.
