A past claim from the former UFC fighter Daniel Cormier appeared on Facebook. Previously, the former UFC heavyweight champion claimed he could get the better of Mike Tyson in a street fight. It all started when a fan claimed Cormier would ‘Destroy’ Tyson in a street fight. The claim followed Cormier’s agreement on the matter. While Cormier believes his wrestling skills will help him end up winning, the boxing world does not agree.

Cormier is undoubtedly one of the greatest mixed martial artists to grace the octagon. His scuffle against Stipe Miocic established him as a dominant force in the heavyweight division. He also possesses superior grappling skills, which he gained from his wrestling experience. But can he evade Mike’s brutal barrage of jaw-breaking punches? Especially if it’s a street fight where 16-ounce gloves aren’t a norm. The same thought must have lingered through the minds of fans who could not agree with the claim.

Fans at odds with Cormier’s claim about Mike Tyson

After the claim resurfaced on Facebook today, the boxing community reflected a similar sentiment as before. While some people outright disagreed with the claim, others mocked it.

One user wrote, “Mike Tyson could beat anyone in a street fight he’s on a different level.” Tyson spent his childhood in a rough neighborhood, which caused him to get involved in several street fights. So, he does have appropriate experience with it.

Someone else wrote, “Age Tyson another 15 plus years and Mayne he has a chance.” As of 2023, Mike is 57 years old. The user suggests that if he were to age 15 years, Cormier may stand a chance of winning. It’s worth noting that Cormier is much younger than Tyson at 44 years.

The next user wrote, “Everyone is a tough guy now that Tyson is nearly 60 years old.” The user suggested that because Tyson has grown old, people are becoming brave enough to make such claims.

Another user mocked the claim by saying, “Yes you can Beat him in commenting a Fight.” According to this user, the only thing Cormier can beat Mike at is sports commentary.

Akin to the last comment, this user also resorted to mocking the claim. The user wrote, “Tell him he’s dreamin.” The user implied Cormier can only beat Tyson in his dreams.

One user pointed at all the things that can happen in a street fight. The user wrote, “Streetfight includes more than just fighting skills. Whatever you can get ahold of and swing I’d fair game.” Street fights are often unpredictable; in the real world, the individual who lands the first shot often wins the fight.
