On 22nd April, Gervonta Davis will indulge in his second fight in 2023. As the current WBA World Light title holder prepares to face Ryan Garcia in an attempt to establish himself as the best lightweight in present-day boxing, the former two-time UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones urges Davis to transition to MMA from boxing. Recently, Jones met Davis. Appreciating Davis’ boxing skills, Jones vouched to teach the boxer some grappling, Jiu-Jutsu, and a little bit of wrestling.
“When are we going to get in the cage? I’ll teach you myself, man. I’ll teach you how to grapple, Jiu-Jutsu, all that. A little wrestling. It’ll be easy for you, bro. It’ll be easy! Those hands right there, ain’t nobody trying to see them hands,” said Jones in the brief clip shared by ESPN MMA to Davis. In his reply to Jones, Davis said, “I’m willing to do it.” In a follow-up, Jones asked how old was Davis. On being informed he was 28, Jones strengthened his proposal by adding, “Oh man, you got so much time. I see super fights in your future. Nobody wants no problems with you, my guy.”

ESPN Ringside in a collaboration with ESPN MMA on Instagram shared the mentioned brief clip of Jon Jones interacting with Gervonta Davis. Excited, several fans reacted to it. While some appreciated Jones showing interest in the boxer, a number of fans opposed the former UFC champion’s proposal to Davis.
For a significant group of fans who watched both boxing and the UFC, it is better if ‘Tank’ remained in the ring. At the outset, nyamenehene said, “Tank will not last 10 mins in UFC”. On the other hand, wknewberry sarcastically commented, “Yeah I’m sure Tank will be down taking a 70% pay-cut to get choked out”. In the same vein, rayrod09 added, “Yea let me fight for peanuts instead of a bag -Tank”.
