At the age of 54, Roy Jones Jr. squared off against former UFC champion, 36-year-old Anthony Pettis in boxing. While Pettis made his debut, Roy Jones Jr. fought his 76th pro fight in the ring. Despite being 18 years older than Pettis, Jones Jr. went the distance and ultimately lost the bout via MD. After losing his fight against ‘Showtime’ Pettis, Jones Jr. took to Instagram and spoke about God’s plan while adding, “age ain’t nothing“.
Having fought Anthony Pettis, who was once the ‘poster boy’ of UFC, Roy Jones Jr. is of the view that age means nothing. According to Jones Jr., he had one of the best times of his life when he squared off against Pettis. In his recent Instagram post, the boxer out of Pensacola, Florida expressed his mind following his latest defeat.

Apart from demonstrating his love for boxing, Jones Jr. wanted to prove that age was barely a factor that had the potential to restrain one from chasing their dreams. Thus, after locking horns with Pettis for eight complete rounds, the boxer declared, “Had a hell of a good time just showing people that age ain’t nothing. It’s all about God’s plan.”

Jones Jr. is a former four-division world champion in boxing and among others, fought the likes of Reggie Johnson, Otis Grant, and Eric Harding inside the professional ring. Before fighting Pettis, he earlier returned to square off against none other than ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson in 2020. In recent times, Jones Jr. publicly delivers his views regarding events in contemporary boxing. According to Jones Jr., Gervonta Davis must not underestimate Ryan Garcia’s power in the ring.
