Floyd Mayweather is set to take on Mikuru Asakura in an exhibition bout on September 24th in Japan. However, it looks like the former champ has already made plans for who he will face next. ‘Money’ is now looking to face his former rival UFC superstar Conor McGregor after their match back in 2017.
In an interview with MailSport, the former champion revealed that there were ongoing talks about a potential match with McGregor. He stated that it could be an exhibition or a professional bout, although he would prefer it to be an exhibition.

Since his retirement from boxing, Mayweather has been on a run of exhibition bouts. This has made him the target of criticism from many fans who believe that he is just fighting to get paid and not test himself.
However, Mayweather’s entire career is based on taking the fights where he could make the most possible money. A second match with Conor McGregor certainly checks off the financial aspect, as their first fight was one of the highest-grossing fights in boxing’s history.
