Jake Paul and Tommy Fury will now finally collide on February 26th. That the two announced their upcoming fight only a month before it is staged inside the ring has impressed UFC veteran Chael Sonnen thoroughly. In his latest YouTube video, the former UFC middleweight spoke about the upcoming Paul vs. Fury and expressed his joy over Paul’s strategy. In fact, Sonnen has drawn a parallel between Paul and to borrow Sonnen’s own term “only meaningful pay-per-view draw,” Floyd Mayweather. “I love that these guys announced the fight one month before the fight. I wish other people would do that. Floyd Mayweather is the only meaningful pay-per-view draw,” said Sonnen regarding Paul vs. Fury.

Chael Sonnen draws a parallel between Jake Paul and Floyd Mayweather announcing fights
“Only Floyd does that,” claimed Chael Sonnen ahead of Paul vs. Fury. According to Sonnen, this is a clever strategy and makes it a more enjoyable journey. Speaking of which, Sonnen referred to Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather in the ring. Sonnen highlighted the fact that Mayweather and Pacquiao were in the ring only five weeks after their announcement in 2015. “But only Floyd, only Floyd specifically would announce a fight and five to five and a half weeks later he would be in the ring. We waited for Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd for 10 years. They announced it and five Saturdays later they were in the ring,” added Sonnen by saying.
In addition, Sonnen expressed surprise that none before Paul observed and copied the strategy of ‘TBE’. Although “there are not a lot of things that work in pay-per-view”, Sonnen believes there are certain things. “I’m surprised that nobody else has copied that. I believe it’s because nobody else has observed it until now. Announcing that these guys are going to fight and by the way in one month, I love that. I think that’s fun,” emphasized Sonnen regarding Paul who has been predicted to get knocked out by Fury in a heartbeat, by wrestler Jon Morrison. Paul vs. Fury was earlier scheduled to take place on February 25th. However, as reported by talkSport, the fight has now been postponed to February 26th.
