Oleksandr Usyk has a humble request for Joe Rogan. The heavyweight champion has become a global icon with his boxing exploits and has proudly carried the Ukrainian flag. Beyond the ring, Usyk has been on the frontlines of the Russia-Ukraine war, working tirelessly to provide aid and support to the battle-worn Ukrainian soldiers. But this time, he wants the popular podcaster to aid him so that he can ensure his fellow compatriots’ safety. How will that happen?
According to reports, Rogan, 57, will host Donald Trump this Friday on his famous ‘The Joe Rogan Experience.’ This will be the first time the former POTUS will be on the JRE podcast, as he continues to occupy the podcast space to secure the presidency later this year. One aspect of his candidature has been his foreign policy and repeated claims of a close relationship with Vladimir Putin. It’s these ties that Usyk, 37, wants the Republican contender to explore in securing Ukrainian nationals’ safety.
Usyk, at 22-0, turned to his X handle and wrote, “Dear @joerogan, could you ask @realDonaldTrump when he’ll appear on your podcast: if Mr. President is so confident in his influence over Putin, could he help #FreeAzovstalDefenders and all Ukrainians from Russian captivity right away? Time is of the essence. Sincerely, Oleksandr.”

It remains to be seen whether the UFC commentator will pay heed to Usyk’s pleadings and ask Trump about the Russia-Ukraine situation. ‘The Cat’ is trying to attract the fans’ eyeballs for his kin. He well understands that Trump’s JRE episode will impact the presidential election and will have a far-reaching, wider audience. Interestingly, this will be the first time that the former president will sit with a mic opposite Rogan because of their complicated past relationship.
Joe Rogan, Donald Trump, and the breeze of change
Among the long list of guests at JRE, Trump was the most notable absentee. Rogan had addressed the situation as his attempt not to aid him in his political endeavors. He had even called him a “threat to democracy.” He had declared back in 2022, “I’m not a Trump supporter in any way, shape, or form. I don’t want to help him. I’m not interested in helping him.” This had attracted a scathing response from Trump, as he believed Rogan would be booed in a UFC event following his remarks.

Have an interesting take?
But there has been a sweeping change, as Trump recently praised him and said, “I think he’s [Joe Rogan] a nice guy. I’ve met him a couple of times at the fights, and I don’t know; it’s that just seems something to do.” Trump and Rogan both share a passion for the UFC, and there have been many instances of them sharing the events, sitting close and watching the action close. But this will be the first time they sit at the same table and have a conversation with each other. And undoubtedly millions will tune in, one of whom will be Oleksandr Usyk.
