Known for its bloody and vicious fighting, MMA can be an unforgiving sport. Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the greatest fighters to have ever stepped into the Octagon. Known for his feisty grapples, the Degastani fighter has engraved his legacy as an all-time great in the UFC. But it is tough to pick a favorite when choosing between two greats. Mike Tyson‘s son recently made his pick between Jon Jones and Nurmagomedov with some statistical backing.

Amir J Tyson took to Instagram to show his appreciation for Jon Jones. The post Amir Tyson shared featured another MMA legend, Khabib Nurmagomedov, to substantiate the greatness of UFC’s newly crowned Heavyweight champion.

Two different fighters with two different records

Amir J Tyson is an admirer of Jon Jones. The son of the former two-time Heavyweight champ Mike Tyson was one of the first persons to congratulate Jon Jones on his victory over Ciryl Gane at UFC 285. Recently, Amir Tyson shared a post of Jones being compared with one of UFC’s most outstanding grapplers, ‘The Eagle.’

The post highlighted the specific career stats of both fighters. The post emphasized the fact that Nurmagomedov has only had 13 fights in the UFC, whereas Jon Jones has had 15 title fight wins in the organization. While posting the photo initially posted by @hotfreestyle, Amir Tyson added emojis to convey his respect and appreciation for the new Heavyweight champion.

Even though both fighters have contrasting records and stats, the fans should remember that numbers should not be the only deciding factor to determine one’s greatness. Both fighters are among the greatest ever to have graced the Octagon. Nurmagomedov ended his career with a perfect undefeated record of 29-0, and Jones still seems to clock some more miles before calling it quits. Meanwhile, Jones has been the subject of many controversies involving his failed drug tests in the past.

Jon Jones showed no ring rust against the french Ciryl Gane at UFC 285, after having a three-year hiatus. With his impressive win under 2:04 minutes of the very first round, he proved to his naysayers why he still is the best in the world.
