Is Jake Paul right about UFC fighter pay, or is he just stirring the pot again?

Dana White and Jake Paul haven’t had the best relationship in the past. However, that seems to have changed after Jake Paul appeared in a recent episode of the Full Send Podcast! Going back some time, White had dismissed the YouTube star turned pugilist as a legitimate boxer, and in return, Paul took several jibes at White before and after his fights.

To add insult to injury, ‘The Problem Child’ became a problem for the UFC top honcho, as Paul kept defeating UFC’s champions like Nate Diaz, Tyrone Woodley and Anderson Silva. Regardless, after Dana White recently spoke in support of Donald Trump in the Republican National Convention, whom by the way, Jake Paul supports completely, ‘El Gallo’ revealed he and White could have been friends.

Speaking about how some UFC fighters have skyrocketed in popularity lately, Alex Pereira would be a good example, ‘The Problem Child’ revealed his true thoughts about the cage fighting organization. That’s where I applaud the UFC and what they’ve done for MMA as a sport and their promotion, production, all of their s**t is amazing”, Paul said.

He further added that people who think he hates the organization or Dana White are completely wrong. Instead, “I also have a lot of respect for like his RNC speech”, Paul revealed. Crediting White’s speech during the convention, Paul explained that he and White agree on a plethora of things, which led him to speculate about a potential friendship between them.

“I’m sure we’d be friends, maybe in this life, maybe in a different life”, Paul continued. However, what’s stopping this from happening is one simple thing, which Paul claimed was the low payout fighters in the UFC receive. “I just want fighters to get paid more, that’s it”, Paul said. This prompted the host of the show to probe Paul about how much the fighters were making.

‘The Problem Child’ quickly responded, “12,000 a fight. So, even if they fought four times a year, that’s not enough”. However, per several reports, UFC fighters get paid according to their popularity and the kind of public they can pull. For instance, a new fighter who is in the initial stage of his MMA career is paid low, but more popular fighters can make a half a million to $3 million per fight.

One of the hosts of the show explained a similar point, hearing Paul’s response, “You also get the purse too if you have the fight of the night. This [is] in the beginning stages, when you first sign up…” Meanwhile, the UFC head recently spoke about his thoughts regarding Paul!

Dana White says no animosity with Paul

Even after the fiery words Paul and White have exchanged over the years, it appears Dana White has moved on from his discontent towards Jake Paul. See, the thing is, after Paul defeated Mike Perry the other day, he called out Alex Pereira for a boxing match. So, speaking about the same during an interview with TNT Sports, White revealed how he sees the former Disney star.

“The media just eats all of this bullsh*t and they actually print it, it’s the weirdest thing ever… I was on vacation in Italy. I had no idea, there’s all these stories that were written, it’s ridiculous”, White said. He further added that he stopped paying attention to Paul since the YouTube star lost his fight to Tommy Fury. “I don’t even think about him anymore…I have no beef with him”, White said.

With that said, both Jake Paul and Dana White seem to be over their past animosity, but can they be friends like Paul said? Dana White, at least, doesn’t seem to be bothered with anything about Jake Paul, so it might not be easy. What do you think? Should they join forces?
