When you mention Floyd Mayweather Jr., you are likely to picture his flawless style and defensive skills that have defeated numerous talented boxers. However, Kamaru Usman, a former UFC Welterweight Champion, seems to have a different perspective. Usman made an appearance on a recent episode of Mike Tyson’s Hotboxin’ podcast as a guest, where he expressed his contentment with his current status despite not holding a championship title at the moment.

Usman shared how much he loves being able to train without being judged by others. He claimed that this has allowed him to mentally grow as a fighter. Tyson also agreed with his statement and said that “You gotta become a seasoned professional before you can handle that pressure”. After this, the conversation steered towards the need for ups and downs which prompted Usman’s criticism of Floyd.

Kamaru Usman calls Floyd Mayweather “boring”

During his recent appearance on Mike Tyson‘s podcast, Kamaru Usman shared his thoughts on why Floyd Mayweather’s fights were perceived as “boring”. Usman believed that Mayweather had become too focused on perfecting his style and had missed the importance of the struggle in the process. He said, “I feel like it was almost a turn-off for people… it’s boring.”

Sebastian Joseph Day, an American football player, also shared his insights during the podcast. He believed that the struggle and the ups and downs of life were necessary to build one’s character and make their story even bigger. He felt that going through a loss could make a person stronger and build them up even bigger.

Usman shared his agreement with Joseph’s statement and said, “I think that was something that Floyd might have missed a little bit”. Usman believes that Mayweather’s obsession with perfection may have turned people off, and some may have even rooted for him to lose just to see how he would handle it and come back stronger. Tyson agreed, noting that it’s what makes weak people weaker and strong people stronger. He also shared his own experience of winning the belt after coming out of prison.
