Former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. recently turned back his form after securing a narrow decision win over Luis Ortiz. Ruiz will now look back to get into title contention and get back the titles he lost to Anthony Joshua in their rematch. The high point in Ruiz’s career came after he became the heavyweight champion against Joshua in the first fight.

The heavier fighter, Ruiz, overcame one of the best physical specimens in Joshua, completing an underdog story. However, for his fight against Ortiz, the Mexican boxer cut down his weight and added more muscle to his frame. In addition, former UFC title challenger Jorge Masvidal mistook an edited photo of Ruiz’s transformation and thought that it was real. Gamebred even shared the post on his Facebook account with the caption. “Incredible”.

Unsurprisingly, Masvidal later deleted the post. However, the photo is clearly photoshopped with Ruiz’s face attached to a much leaner body. There are also extra tattoos on his chest which indicate that the photo is edited. Although Masvidal might have thought that since Ruiz is getting leaner, this must be how much he transformed. This certainly makes a person of his caliber look silly and with a person of his influence, he should be responsible in not being misleading with his posts.

The fight could take place in early 2023 if all parties agree to terms. Moreover, this could be a great event in terms of PPV buys, with both fighters being former champions. This could eventually lead the winner to face either Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk for the title later in 2023. However, Fury is currently fighting Derek Chisora on December 3rd and might not compete in the ring for some time after that.

What did you think about Masvidal getting fooled by Ruiz Jr’s transformation meme? Let us know in the comments.
