Joe Rogan Once Snubbed Mike Tyson, Joe Frazier, & George Foreman to Give the Ultimate ‘Knockout Artist’ Crown to Deontay Wilder

On the 15th of October, in his comeback fight, Deontay Wilder will square off with Robert Helenius at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Prior to losing two back-to-back contests against Tyson Fury, Wilder held a record of 0 losses, only 1 draw, and 42 wins. 41 victories came via knockouts.

That Wilder achieved 91.1% of victories by knockouts led commentator and analyst Joe Rogan to claim Wilder to be different from anyone who had earlier fought in the heavyweight division of boxing. By anyone Rogan meant and included the likes of Tyson, Foreman, and Frazier – heavyweights who once dominated the ring.

The conversation followed Wilder’s KO win over Ortiz. Observing the manner in which Wilder knocked out Ortiz, Rogan said, “He doesn’t care to box with you. It’s such a crazy tragedy because out of anyone that has ever fought in the heavyweight division, he [Wilder] is the one guy that literally can shut everyone’s lights out with one shot.”

According to Rogan, Wilder was a knockout artist different from anyone who stepped in the ring. Speaking of what made ‘The Bronze Bomber’ different, Rogan attributed ‘another level of craziness’ to him.

Rogan observed the particular manner in which Wilder would approach his fights. Even though in certain cases his opponents ‘out-boxed’ him, Wilder cared little. According to Rogan, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ held on to his unparalleled strength and ability to end the night. It was this crazy reliance upon his knockout abilities that Rogan felt made Wilder different in the ring.

In Rogan’s words, “Everyone’s a knockout artist – Foreman was a knockout artist, Frazier, Tyson of course, was a knockout artist. But not like this guy. This guy’s got another level of craziness.”

Being able to execute a knockout was also part of exhibiting one’s boxing skills. However, to sum up ‘Rogan’s thesis’, speaking of Wilder, he out-powered his opponents while they looked to out-box him.
