In a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, guest Ali Siddiq discussed an Instagram video of ‘Money’. In the video, the former champion can be seen selling off his collection of Nike Air Force One despite being one of the wealthiest athletes in the world. Rogan speculated that Mayweather’s lavish spending habits and extravagant lifestyle may have created a constant need for money.
“Come on, man. He needs that money. That money has to keep coming in. If you’re gonna live like this, He’s only 46. But he does this with everything, man. He’s got a million-dollar watches,” said Rogan.
However, Siddiq on the other hand had a different theory behind this. He pointed out that Mayweather might give away his shoes for charity purposes, allowing him to benefit from tax write-offs. “I don’t think he buys every pair. Because then you get a video like that, and then you get Floyd’s Air Force Ones given away for charity. That’s the tax write-off and all sorts of things.” he said.
This is not the first time people have come out and speculated on Mayweather’s wealth. It has been a topic of debate among many but still remains a mystery as no one knows how rich the former champion is. However, the need for money due to extravagant spending habits and potential tax benefits from charitable donations might explain his continued involvement in the ring and his shoe-selling endeavors. Moreover, Rogan finds it interesting that Mayweather is being paid more than the majority of boxers for fighting exhibitions.

“What’s interesting is, Floyd’s making more money than anybody, and he’s boxing people who have no chance of beating him. And he’s doing it as an exhibition; it doesn’t even hurt his record,” said Rogan.
Rogan’s comments shed light on the nature of exhibition fights and their impact on Mayweather’s legacy as one of the greatest boxers of all time. As his exhibition ventures persist, it remains to be seen how they will continue to shape the narrative surrounding his career. Moreover, the more important thing would be how these bouts impact the larger scale of boxing as a sport with their now increasing popularity.
