Some viewers often consider the action scenes in the ‘Rocky’ movie cheesy. But the movie series created by Sylvester Stallone also has a charming quality that appeals to others. A straightforward and almost gritty style captures the fight scenes, emphasizing ‘Rocky Balboa’s’ raw power and determination. Despite the low-budget special effects and sometimes stilted choreography, many believe the scenes still convey excitement and drama. Some might find them over-the-top and lacking in finesse, while others might appreciate their rough-and-tumble energy and old-school charm.

As could be expected, the two started off discussing Artificial Intelligence. Lex Friedman soon elaborated on the latest developments in the field. Upon hearing, Rogan reminisced, “You know what it’s eerily similar to the plot of Ex Machina. When he’s talking about how he coded the brain, Do you remember that plot? That scene?”
When Friedman denied knowledge of the scene, Rogan asked his studio assistant and obtained the lead actor’s name, Oscar Isaac. He then mentioned that the movie ranked in his top-ten list. The banter continued when Friedman asked Rogan whether ‘Ex Machina’ stood below the ‘John Wick’ series. While the latter replied on not being that fond of the Keanu Reeves starring franchise, Friedman interjected, saying, “still worse than The Scent of a Woman.”

Laughing out loud, Rogan asked the AI scientist any particular edition of the John Wick series that he didn’t like, and pat came the reply, “..all of them.” The UFC commentator asked jokingly whether Friendman ever tried watching the series on a treadmill for motivation! Friedman replied that he considered ‘Rocky’ way better for the purpose, especially its soundtrack. Rogan immediately shot back, “I can’t get over the bad-fight scenes.”
The conversation continued back and forth, with Friedman explaining that even though the movie is too cheesy, it “still works.” He cited examples such as the pull-ups done by Sylvester Stallone’s character, ‘Rocky Balboa.’ And Joe Rogan responded, “It’s just….there so much corny to the actual physical confrontations.”
But that being said, Rogan acknowledges the franchise’s nostalgic appeal for those who grew up watching it. In the past, Joe Rogan has spoken positively about Sylvester Stallone, who portrayed ‘Rocky Balboa.’ He has praised Stallone’s talent, dedication, and perseverance. In addition, he has commended the latter’s success in creating the iconic character of ‘Rocky.’ Despite his criticism of the ‘Rocky’ movies, Rogan recognizes Stallone’s contributions to the film industry and the franchise’s impact on popular culture.
