In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Sonnen mentioned that according to a Forbes report, Mayweather earned $250 million in a single fight. However, he stated that this was untrue and it was all just a ploy by Mayweather to gain exposure.

There are reports by Forbes, who are very well respected, that Mayweather in a night made a quarter billion. Are you guys aware of that? 250 million for a fight? It just didn’t happen. Not only did it not happen, it’s insane, and it was a joke by Floyd and his team to put it out. They had started joking with you,” he said.

Sonnen also claimed that Mayweather’s camp initiated the deception. This was by suggesting that ‘TBE’  carried a bag with five million dollars at all times. Moreover, he added that the reporters bought in on Mayweather’s deception which led to him carrying on with his charade.

They had started telling you that Floyd carries a bag with him at all times that has five million dollars in it, right? They started with that, and you bought it,” he added. However, the most surprising thing for Sonnen was how Forbes published the inflated figures, further cementing the ‘illusion’.
