There is no title at stake and only ten rounds. No, it’s not just another random boxing bout. The much-vaunted Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou match is set to occur in Riyadh on October 28. Since it’s the pit he’s familiar with, Tyson Fury remains the bookmaker’s favorite to win. But what about Ngannou, who enjoys a formidable reputation as one of combat sports’ hardest hitters? In step Mike Tyson. The Cameroonian-French Heavyweight served an ace by pulling in the youngest Heavyweight champion in history to hone his boxing skills. Whether the combo pulls a rabbit out of the hat next month, time alone will tell. But if they do, the former UFC champion confirmed that Fury can forget about the cage.

During the pre-fight press conference, Francis Ngannou corrected Tyson Fury, who called himself the ‘fighting world champion.’ The former mentioned that ‘The Gypsy King’ might be a world boxing champion, but his chances remain slim in full combat. The exchange reached a point where Fury claimed he would prevail in boxing, but even in mixed martial arts, he could beat Ngannou.

So, the former UFC Heavyweight champion was speaking to eminent sports journalist Gareth A. Davies. The former started explaining how the match was a ‘dream accomplishment’ for him since, right from childhood, he wanted to become a boxer. Then, Davies checked whether he would become the most dangerous Heavyweight in the world if he beats Fury. Francis Ngannou replied, “Oh, absolutely, definitely. You know why? Because if I beat him in boxing, he can’t step a foot in the octagon with me. He has no chance.” When the host asked what might happen, the mixed martial artist said, “I would do whatever I want with him.

Gareth A. Davies asked what would happen if Tyson Fury okayed an MMA match. Ngannou replied that he would give him the benefit of the doubt. After all, Fury allowed him to fight on his turf. But he hopes that ‘The Gypsy King’ is not out of his mind. He knows how different the cage is; things might go utterly topsy-turvy for him there.

‘The Predator’ later explained how even the boxing inside an octagon differed from what fans usually saw in the squared circle.

For both fighters, the match comes after a long break. Fury fought a title defense against Derek Chisora last December. At the same time, Ngannou hasn’t fought since he defended his UFC title against Ciryl Gane in January 2022. Moreover, he eventually came out of the UFC. Later this year, in May, he agreed with the Professional Fighters League (PFL) for a multi-fight deal.
