Following this, Masvidal added how Mayweather changed his career with his promotion. Talking about the first big fight of Mayweather’s career against Oscar De La Hoya, Masvidal mentioned the purse of both fighters- Mayweather made $17 million and De La Hoya made around $100 million. Though De La Hoya lost the bout he ended up making far more money than Mayweather because he was fighting under his promotion.
This inspired Mayweather and he began fighting under his promotion and that changed the course of his career forever. He started promoting and handling his fight’s business and that clocked massive checks.
Agreeing with this, Rogan issued a warning to Mayweather. He said, “Yeah, but he spends a lot too. So he’s got to keep that money flowing in. It’s kind of fun to watch. Yeah, he’s a character.”
