Jose Aldo is preparing hard for his boxing bout against Jeremy Stephens. But he’s not going to stop his boxing career just there as he plans on taking up Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather as his next opponent. Notably, Jose Aldo has already stopped Jeremy Stephens in a UFC bout, where he put ‘Lil Heathen’ down with a dangerous body shot. Now again, both fighters will face each other, but they’ll prefer it to be inside a ring rather than an Octagon for their upcoming fight. They’ll be fighting under another UFC fighter, Jorge Masvidal‘s ‘Gamebred promotion’.

Jose Aldo is a UFC legend and is arguably the greatest featherweight of all time. He fought in the Bantamweight division, the last time he fought in UFC. He is now retired from MMA but is still not ready to move on from combat sports as he plans to go ahead with his boxing fights in the future.

The press conference for the Gamebred Boxing 4: Jones Jr. vs Pettis concluded where all the fighters on the card were present in one place. Jose Aldo is scheduled to fight in the co-main event of the card, just before the legend Roy Jones Jr. will take on Anthony Pettis.

During the press conference, a reporter asked Aldo about the rumor going on in the boxing community, where fans are speculating that Jose Aldo could possibly be one of Floyd Mayweather’s opponents in his exhibition bouts. Even in his boxing debut match, Jose Aldo confused boxing fans.

Aldo did not deny the rumors, instead, he said, “We’ve been negotiating that fight for a good while. Floyd already knows about the fight. I first need to think about my fight this Saturday, and then I can see what’s going to happen. And that fight could go down in Saudi Arabia.

It is worth mentioning that when Conor McGregor fought Floyd Mayweather, Aldo criticized their fight, so now he’ll have to live up to the expectations when he’ll fight Mayweather himself.

Aldo panning Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather

Back in 2017, Jose Aldo panned the fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. He stated that Mayweather did not win morally. It’d only be moral if he took on an active boxer during that period of his life. As McGregor belonged to a completely different combat sport, it creates a big difference.

Aldo said, “It was a money fight. A moral victory would have been taking on an active boxer, a champion, and then fought him. And then you’d see how he would barely last a round. Because it’s an entirely different sport.”
