Last weekend, the UFC’s biggest superstar, Conor McGregor, capitulated to a lopsided defeat in his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier. The Irishman lost his UFC 264 contest via doctor’s stoppage, as he suffered a vicious leg break in round 1 itself. This left the fans disheartened as they wanted this fight to determine a true winner.

After the injury, McGregor had to be taken out on a stretcher, as he could not stand. That said, this entire incident caught every combat sports lover’s eye. And eventually, McGregor was on the receiving end of a huge backlash coming from the fans and fighters.

Floyd Mayweather took it to his Instagram to mock ‘The Notorious’. He shared a picture of McGregor’s replica toy, which had a broken ankle too. ‘Money’ wrote, “Parents, please get your children an early Christmas gift and remember to tell them this…”F*** IF YOUR LEG IS BROKE, BI**H HOP UP ON YOUR GOOD FOOT!“

Right from the first bell of this trilogy bout, McGregor looked to press his opponent. He landed some slick leg kicks alongside some quick jabs. But midway through round 1, ‘The Diamond’ turned the tide in his favor and counter attacked the Irishman.

Poirier even took McGregor to the canvas, and the momentum clearly shifted towards the American fighter. McGregor ate some mammoth shots from Poirier and in the end, he injured himself.

As a result, Mayweather and many more fighters got a point to troll ‘The Notorious’.
