Is it embarrassing for a former UFC title challenger to beg Jake Paul for a fight?

UFC legends such as Francis Ngannou, Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz, and a few others have retired from the UFC and turned to boxing. Darren Till, a former British mixed martial artist, has also switched to boxing and debuted in Dubai on July 6th. He intends to use his fresh start to his advantage by becoming a successful boxer, eventually earning a handsome salary. To achieve that, his eyes are locked in on ‘The Problem Child’ – Jake Paul.

The Liverpool native has repeatedly stated that he wants to take on YouTuber turned-boxer Jake Paul. Till, though, has come under fire from numerous combat sports enthusiasts and members of the fraternity for this. But he has faith in what he is doing, though, and doesn’t give much thought about what people think.

Darren Till was in conversation with Ariel Helwani, where he explained his thoughts on fighting Paul. The former UFC fighter stated, “Sometimes the trolls and other people say ‘You’re begging for a fight with Jake Paul’. Well, wouldn’t you beg for a fight with Jake Paul? I know I would beat Jake Paul. I’d knock him flat out, but the guy trains hard. He’s put in a lot of commitment and a lot of effort.”

Till further elaborated, “He’s actually changed a few people’s lives around like Amanda Serrano. So this narrative says ‘You’re begging for a fight, you’re a guy who challenged for a title and now you’re begging for a fight with a YouTuber’. Well, wouldn’t you mate? You’re going to make so much money… Obviously, me and every other fighter would beg for a fight with Jake Paul. So if that’s what you want to call it then we are begging. He’s the face.”

The first time Jake Paul tiptoed into a boxing ring was six years ago. In a comparatively short period of time, he has emerged as one of the most well-known names in the boxing industry. In addition to his highly marketable boxing fights, he also has his promotions company, Most Valuable Promotions. Apart from this, despite Till’s wish to fight Paul, he believes the Ohio native is scared of him.

‘The Problem Child’ was supposed to fight boxing great Mike Tyson on July 20th. However, the latter was forced to leave the fight because of health issues, and Mike Perry has since taken his place. Apparently, Till was on the July 20th undercard fighting against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. But Till also withdrew from the bout citing visa issues. But he willingly made an early boxing debut in Dubai on July 6th, against Mohammad Mutie.

Following his victory over Mutie, Till called out the names of fighters he really wanted to fight. The 31-year-old stated, “Jake Paul, Tommy Fury, Mike Perry, they’re all running, they’re scared cowards. They do not want to fight me. I promise you, I swear to God. I am not a four-round, two-minute fighter. I’m an eight-round, three-minute fighter, and I will f***king decapitate them.”

Paul has not responded to Till’s callout. But one thing is for sure, it would be an exciting showdown to see Paul go up against Till. Do you think there is a chance of this match-up reaching its fruition? Let us know your opinions in the comments below.
