Errol Spence Jr.’s comments about Bellator MMA have drawn the attention of Conor McGregor’s former coach, Dillon Danis. Danis quickly responded to defend Bellator’s upcoming event on July 29 in Japan. The event, co-promoted by Bellator MMA and the Rizin Fighting Federation, promises an exciting showdown.

The main attraction features the Bellator Lightweight World Grand Prix quarterfinal between A.J. McKee and Patricky Pitbull. Additionally, the co-main event showcases the inaugural Bellator Flyweight Championship bout between Kyoji Horiguchi and Makoto Shinryu. Spence took to Twitter, dismissing Bellator MMA, he wrote, “Nobody gives a fuck about Bellator MMA, July 29”.

However, Danis, known for his association with McGregor, swiftly defended the promotion. He challenged Spence to face him in a genuine fight, offering to donate $5 million to a charity of Spence’s choice if he could endure a round. Danis wrote, “I honestly don’t know who you are, but if you can survive one round in a real fight against me, I’ll donate 5 million to any charity of your choice.”

Danis has made a name for himself in MMA since 2016, joining McGregor’s training camp as a coach and partner for the highly anticipated UFC 202 rematch against Nate Diaz. He debuted in Bellator 198 in 2018, securing a first-round victory with a toe-hold submission. Danis continued his winning streak with a first-round armbar win over Max Humphreys at Bellator 222. Expressing his commitment to Bellator, Danis revealed that he still has two fights remaining on his contract and looks forward to fulfilling them in 2023.

Meanwhile, recently Spence’s coach Derrick James got into an altercation with his pupil’s upcoming opponent, Terence Crawford. Though the altercation did not escalate to physical jabs, the incident made headlines.
