Former UFC welterweight and lightweight contender Nate Diaz has big ambitions for his stint in boxing, as he recently challenged Terence Crawford to a boxing match. Now, he has doubled down on his challenge on social media while roping in Kendrick Lamar and Drake. However, the fans aren’t having any of it.
Diaz, who enjoyed a 15-year-long career in Dana White’s UFC, has two fights in mind. First, he wants to fight Crawford in a boxing match after seeing mixed results against Jake Paul and Jorge Masvidal. Later, he wants to square off against rival Conor McGregor to cap off his trilogy, which he revealed on social media previously. This comes days after ‘The Notorious’ revealed ‘Bud’ Crawford had turned down a significant offer to fight him.

Earlier today on X, ‘The Stockton Slap’ captioned his post, “Drake gang 👊🏼,” as he shared a still of Crawford from the UFC 306, where he was misidentified as Kendrick Lamar. He added in the image, “I am trying to fight Kendrick Lamar,” to use the rivalry between the rappers to hype up his desire to fight Crawford.

Before Diaz even came into the picture, Conor McGregor revealed during a live stream that Terence Crawford had refused to enter a two-fight deal—one MMA and one boxing—with him worth $200 million, praising the Nebraska native for staying true to his principles. Interestingly, Crawford playfully commented on the post, “@thenotoriousmma tempted.”
It appears despite Crawford’s refusal of the offer to fight McGregor, Diaz is hell-bent on convincing ‘Bud’ to a fight. This didn’t sit well with Diaz’s vast online following, nor did his choice to side with Drake. This led to the fans expressing their disdain for both decisions.

Is Nate Diaz's callout to Crawford a genuine challenge or just a desperate money grab?

Fan reminds Diaz of the Jake Paul fight
Despite Diaz’s two boxing matches, he has failed to do anything significant in the squared circle. So, when this fan learned about Diaz’s intentions, he quickly reminded ‘The Stockton Slap’ about his Paul fight. “Bros acting like we didn’t see the jake Paul fight lmao,” the user wrote. Paul dropped Diaz in the fifth round en route to a unanimous decision win.
Meanwhile, this user didn’t seem too much of a fan of Nate Diaz choosing Drake over Kendrick Lamar. “No Nate… no… aren’t you from the west coast? Nate got hacked…,” the user wrote. However, the former UFC fighter presumably chose to side with Drake to fit his tactic to call out Crawford, who was misidentified as the rapper.

Ashamed by the entire thing, this user shared some advice with Diaz. “You still have time do delete this,” the user commented. Notably, despite losing to Jake Paul and severely struggling to beat Masvidal, Diaz’s call out to one of the elites in boxing looks nothing less than a money grab.
Another user expressed their anguish over Diaz, choosing to side with Drake. “Noooo nate just nooooo I love you don’t pick the wrong side,” the user commented. It’s largely believed Lamar has won the feud that was making headlines some time ago.

Even the next user wasn’t happy with Diaz’s decision to call out Crawford. “Please tell me this was a CTE induced post 🤦🏽♂️ can’t keep tarnishing Stockton’s rep anymore,” the user remarked. Notably, if Crawford turned down McGregor, the chances of him accepting Diaz’s challenge would be low, too.
That said, Nate Diaz seems to have met with public scrutiny over his decision to choose Drake over Lamar and challenging Terence Crawford. Whether his callout produces fruit is yet to be seen. Until then, share your take on the matter.
