It’s news that has taken the world of combat sports by storm. With yet another resounding victory over rival Tyson Fury, fans saw Oleksandr Usyk finally cement his legacy in boxing history two days ago. This transpired just a month later after the world witnessed one of the year’s biggest sporting events when Jake Paul squared up against the 58-year-old legend Mike Tyson. Latest reports suggest ‘The Problem Child’s elder brother, Logan Paul, might be in the fray for a big boxing fight. He could potentially face ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor in India.

Reportedly backed by the Ambanis, one of Asia’s wealthiest families, the event could mark a return for the Irishman, who has yet to return to the ring since the high-octane showdown against Floyd Mayweather Jr. seven years ago. Unlike his younger brother, Logan has experienced mixed success in the boxing ring. Instead, he found his calling in the dramatic sequences of the WWE world. Many are still coming to terms with the news. But some remain skeptical. ‘Suga’ Sean O’Malley, for one, feels McGregor should rather return to the Octagon.

Speaking with his coach Tim Welch on his podcast, Sean O’Malley shared a few snippets of his travel to Japan. Soon, Welch sought his views on the Logan Paul-Conor McGregor matchup. To the co-host, it was a matchup that had a chance of making it through. “It seems real because the WWE is owned by TKO, and remember the UFC and TKO group kind of—they kind of teamed up, and, uh, Dana White’s always had a good relationship with Logan Paul, you know, it sounds like, and the way Ariel talks about it, it sounds like it’s serious,” said Welch.

However, shaking his head, O’Malley remained unconvinced. “I don’t want to say no way because of all the crazy fights we’ve already seen,” said the former 135lbs champ. He still couldn’t fathom why Conor McGregor would agree to, if he has, a matchup with Logan Paul.

His hesitation stems from Logan Paul’s previous exhibition fight with Floyd Mayweather, where Paul, despite his inexperience, held his own against the legendary boxer. “Logan is a big motherf**ker. Floyd, the best boxer in the world, is somewhat close. I have to rewatch; I might sound like a complete idiot, because I feel like I rewatched it, and I was like, Damn, Logan did f**king good, and then Floyd pieced up Connor a little bit,” Sean O’Malley reasoned.

The combat world is holding its breath to witness its prodigal son grace the ring once again. During his 2017 May-Mac super fight, Conor McGregor had visibly gassed out against the best boxer in the world. However, times have changed. He appears to have bulked up a lot. At the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight, Logan Paul reportedly shared that he weighed around 190 pounds. “He’s not. He wasn’t near as stacked as you’re used to seeing him in the WWE. He is tall. Uh, I think that’s a competitive fight,” stressed Tim Welch. ‘Suga’ agreed. However, recalling McGregor’s antics, O’Malley would rather see the former two-division champion return to the UFC.

Some time ago, ESPN’s Salvador Rodriguez shared that instead of Logan, Jake Paul might face Conor McGregor for a September 2025 showdown in India.

But what may concern many fans could be the relative inactivity of McGregor. Putting boxing aside, he hasn’t stepped into the cage since his consecutive defeats to Dustin Poirier in 2021. So how will a boxing match against the much larger Logan Paul or the more experienced Jake Paul unfold? What do you think? Could Conor McGregor vs. Logan Paul or Jake Paul be one of the biggest sporting events of next year?
