It seems that former Welterweight champion Paul Malignaggi wanted to hit two birds with one stone. However, by the reactions to his post on Conor McGregor received thus far, it appears that the stone whipped across his windowpanes instead of hitting the targets. Malignaggi was responding to a Tweet posted by @MMAUNCENSORED1. It had the unbeaten records of Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Khabib Nurmagomedov embossed over their pics.

The original message posed a question, “Which is more impressive?” Yesterday, Paul Malignaggi responded by writing, “Both clowned Connie.” However, the humor appeared to have missed its mark. More and more followers joined in. First, they started mentioning a few inglorious moments, such as the rumors of Conor McGregor knocking him down while sparring. Then they also took up the bare-knuckle fight loss to Artem Lobov, McGregor’s teammate.

One user wanted Malignaggi to remember how Conor McGregor beat him during their sparring session. The boxer fared poorly even against the latter’s teammate Artem Lobov who notably has more losses on his record than wins.

One user decided to tease Malignaggi about the infamous sparring with McGregor. Asking for the tapes of that fight, the user seemed curious as he was under the impression that the video clip of him and McGregor sparring would make it to unique Netflix airtime!

Another user also went no-holds-barred. Reminding Malignaggi about how McGregor toyed with him when they sparred, this user wondered how a mixed martial artist got the better of a dyed-in-the-wool boxer!

The following user also awakened Malignaggi’s memories of the loss he suffered at the hands of Artem Lobov. The Russia-born fighter has a notoriously abysmal record of fifteen losses against thirteen victories.

The following user also toed a similar line. He stirred up the former champion’s memories of when even an inconsequential mixed martial artist such as Lobov routed Malignaggi during their bare-knuckle bout.

According to an article on FoxSports, the Paul Malignaggi – Conor McGregor feud stemmed during the days before the Irishman took on Floyd Mayweather Jr. After hearing the American boxer questioning his chances against Mayweather Jr., McGregor invited him to spar with him at the Las Vegas-based training camp. Reportedly, the duo fought twice- an eight-round and a twelve-round match.

However, it appears there was a clip of McGregor sending Malignaggi down to the canvas. The latter walked out of the camp. But, ever since, both sides have clung to their versions. Team McGregor contended on knocking down Malignaggi. However, the American boxer who called to release the complete video footage insists he was pushed down.
