Did Nate Diaz make a huge mistake turning down $15 million for a $9 million lawsuit?

Nate Diaz and Jake Paul are at it, again. The two boxers, with their sharp punches and lethal verbal blows, have been exchanging words on the internet lately. And it seems the former UFC fighter’s run into legal complications has allowed the American prizefighter to call shots at him.

Diaz, 39, fought Jorge Masvidal with an offer of $10 million on the table. While he received $1 million upfront, he has been chasing the rest of the payout. However, the event’s co-promoter, Solomon Engel, and his company, Fanmio, are now backtracking on their offer. Citing a lack of money and a potential fallout with his wife, Engel has reportedly refused to pay the fighter his dues. Frustrated by the situation, Diaz has filed a suit for fraud and a breach of contract, and it has shocked the combat sports world, but not Paul.

Interestingly, Paul, 26, had welcomed Diaz to professional boxing, as he raced to a decision win against the Stockton native last August. Since then, talks of a rematch have seized headlines here and there. But nothing came out of it. That’s not it. Paul and the PFL had offered Diaz a whopping $15 million to run it back inside the PFL’s SmartCage under the MMA rules, only to never hear back from him. With Diaz’s unfolding legal situation, Paul turned to his X handle and slammed Diaz. He wrote, “Guess that $15 million from PFL needs to be taken a little more seriously you dummy.”

The Cleveland native then threw a jibe at Diaz and Masvidal’s ability to sell fights and their financial condition. He added, Yesterday’s price is not today’s price. Oh and Masvidal you broke and can’t sell shit.”

It doesn’t look like the two will stop quarreling anytime soon, as Diaz reignited the talks of a rematch with Paul after he swept the judges’ scorecard and handed a beatdown to Masvidal. “I’m gonna beat Jake Paul’s f*cking a*s,” the MMA fighter declared in his post-fight speech. That also didn’t escape Paul’s scrutiny, as he gave him a reality check.

Paul, at 9-1, didn’t take lightly what Diaz had minced and took to his social media handle, and again reminded him of not accepting a rematch in an MMA fight. He announced, “F**k you Nate Diaz you’re a h*e who ducked my PFL $15m MMA offer.”

Maybe someday Paul and Diaz will have their much-awaited rematch. But before that happens, you can always expect him to not shy away from throwing verbal sludge. Currently, Paul is focused on his fight with Mike Perry, which is scheduled for July 20. Will he add another former UFC star to his list of victims? The fans will find out this Saturday.
