A storm is brewing in the UFC, and Olympic bronze medalist Tony Jeffries just jumped headfirst in the eye of the storm. You see, just last week, former UFC heavyweight contender turned comedian and podcaster Brendan Schaub opened up about his friend Shane Carwin, a former UFC interim champion, during his podcast on YouTube.

Carwin had been going through financial and physical struggles before he penned an open letter as part of the UFC antitrust lawsuit. Teary-eyed, Schaub shared more insights into the situation, but hours after the podcast went live, Stockton, California’s Nate Diaz—a popular name in the UFC—reacted to Schaub’s statements by making a derogatory comment.

Turning to X, ‘The Stockton Slugger’ wrote, “Brendan the big ol p***y Schaub”. This seems to have caught the former UFC heavyweight’s eye, as he lashed out on the latest episode of his The Schaub Show podcast. Branding, Diaz’s comment as nothing more than “internet gossip,” ‘Big Brown’ claimed Diaz has nothing going on right now, and “this is getting him trending”.

“The whole narrative, this entire narrative, ‘Oh, f**k the man,’ Bud, you’ve been paid more than 99% of the fighters. Cut the bulls**t,” Brendan said. “You’re not tough to me. I know tough guys. Tough guys don’t get on the internet and tweet at another grown f**king man, who’d beat the s**t out of him when they’re crying, or getting emotional because their friend of 20 f**king years is having major issues, suicidal thoughts.”

Schaub speculated Diaz was doing this to set up a fight against him, adding, “Now, if you’re doing this because you fancy yourself [some] fisticuffs… I’m not hard to get a hold of. Pull the f**k up. And you can show up with all your boys… but what a real man will do is pull up one-on-one.” The former UFC heavyweight claimed he would “twist your f**king neck off” and go back to normal life if they fight.

A clip of Schaub’s outburst made it to X, where Jeffries reacted to it by claiming he loved the response from Schaub, adding, “He would smash 99.999% of the world up in a street fight, including Nate. Nice [one] @BrendanSchaub.” That being said, Diaz was, of course, made aware of Schaub’s response, and he had more to say.

Nate Diaz hits back at Brendan Schaub

As things are, Diaz is in hot pursuit of his next stint in the ring or octagon. He recently defeated Jorge Masvidal in a boxing match. However, he didn’t get paid for it and has filed a lawsuit against the promoter of the fight, Fanmio, alleging he is owed $9 million. He also tried to take over Conor McGregor’s proposed two-fight deal with Terence Crawford.

However, nothing has come of that. Schaub, on the other hand, retired from the sport in 2014 following a first-round TKO loss to Travis Browne at UFC 181. Regardless, reacting to Schaub’s lengthy and fiery rant on the latter’s podcast, Diaz tweeted what Schaub had once said to Joe Rogan when Joe pitted him in a hypothetical wrestling match against UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez: “I think you’d be surprised.”

A fighter should always know where to draw the line in building their image, and it seems Nate Diaz crossed that line. Brendan Schaub’s reaction was understandable, yet Diaz appears unfazed, not taking the situation too seriously. What’s your take on this?
