On looking from a boxing perspective, Tyson Fury seems invincible as he currently sits at the top of the heavyweight division as the undefeated WBC world champion. Fresh from a win over Deontay Wilder, ‘The Gypsy King’ will put his title at stake against fellow countryman Dillian Whyte on his next appearance. However, Fury is also aligned to a potential fight against UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou, which can happen somewhere down the line.
Fury had called out Ngannou to host a massive crossover heavyweight bout, which he labeled as ‘Clash of Titans’ on Twitter. After Ngannou defended his gold at UFC 270 against Ciryl Gane, Fury once again pressed for that matchup. That said, UFC prodigy, Sean Strickland doesn’t want to see it happen under boxing guidelines and has challenged Fury to battle Ngannou in a new set of rules.

In a chat with Helen Yee Sports, Strickland said, “At the end of the day, we are MMA fighters not boxers. Like there is a clear difference. I think Tyson Fury should man the f*** up. He should man up.”
“He is ‘The Gypsy King’, he likes to do bare-knuckle, he should change the rules, do four-ounce gloves, close to bare-knuckle. Be a man, dear lineage because that’s what you say you are. Show it to the world with Francis [Ngannou].”

Ngannou has also agreed to match up against pro-boxers at some point. He always wanted to be a pugilist before turning his attention towards Mixed Martial Arts. Having become a world champion MMA fighter, Francis Ngannou now wants bigger paychecks and only boxing can fetch him that. However, he is still miles away from bagging a scrap against Tyson Fury.
Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou isn’t an ideal boxing fight
Fury bagged over $30 million from his WBC title defense against Deontay Wilder in October 2021. Nevertheless, Francis Ngannou earned only $600k from his win over Ciryl Gane at UFC 270. Thus, ‘The Predator’ may have to shift to the boxing domain to bag a multi-million dollar fight. But Tyson Fury’s boxing plans look stacked at this point.

After facing Dillian Whyte, he can go straight towards an undisputed title fight against Oleksandr Usyk or Anthony Joshua. But if Whyte lands a shocking win over Fury, it will allow ‘The Gypsy King’ to look at other options, including current UFC champion, Ngannou.
