Teofimo Lopez is already thinking ahead and expressing interest in facing Devin Haney and Terence Crawford. In calling out the welterweight champion, Lopez questioned Crawford’s credibility altogether. The attempt at provocation had Lopez raising concerns about Crawford’s victories over notable fighters. He even suggested that some of those wins were achieved when his opponents were at a disadvantage. That is not all.
As he is gearing up for his return to the ring in February against Jamaine Ortiz, he suggested in an interview with Fight Hub TV that his potential fight with Crawford could bring in more dough than his fight with Errol Spence Jr. However, Andre Rozier, boxing trainer of such fighters as Demetrius Andrade and Richard Commey, has a few predictions to make about the hypothetical fight.

The last time Lopez fought was against Josh Taylor, where he secured his title in the WBO’s junior welterweight category, which is 140 lbs. Crawford, however, fought at 147 in the welterweight division against Spence Jr. and is now considering moving up to 154. In that case, a match between the two does not seem quite likely. “I think Teo is just hitting us with some pillow talk. He’s at 140. TC is at 147. Might go to 54. So, we’re not gonna see any action happening,” said Rozier.
In the current scenario where even fighters in the middleweight division are trying to provoke a fight with the fighters in the heavyweight division, Rozier does not believe Lopez’s verbal jabs will yield any consequence. However, if Lopez is willing to move up to 147, it might be made possible, but at the same time, it is a considerable risk to climb weight divisions to fight the P4P King. There is also another possible opponent for Lopez that he has shown considerable interest in.

Bill Haney, father and manager of Devin Haney, has responded to Teofimo Lopez’s callouts and suggested a fight between them at 140 pounds. After failed negotiations with Ryan Garcia, the Haneys are actively seeking their next opponent, with Lopez catching their attention. In an Instagram story, Bill Haney asked Lopez to focus on a Haney vs. Lopez at 140-pound for the unification of their titles instead of targeting Terence Crawford.
Bill emphasized that Lopez does not deserve a fight with Crawford. Despite Terence Crawford advising Lopez to concentrate on his upcoming bout against Jamaine Ortiz, the Haneys’ willingness has sparked Lopez’s enthusiasm for potential future fights. “The Haney’s are now on the radar! It’s about damn time. One fight at a time baby! One fight at a time. DAMN IT FEELS GREAT TO BE BACK,” responded Lopez.
