Despite all the prayers and invitations, it is not coming home for England! As this is England’s second loss in the Euro finals after the defeat against Italy in 2020 under manager Gareth Southgate, the manager’s future with England looks uncertain. So, former two-division British boxer, Tony Bellew prays Southgate does not bid goodbye.

After Spain were crowned the champions, speaking to the press, manager Gareth Southgate admitted that England “fell short”. “We didn’t keep the ball well enough. You have to keep the ball when you win it back“, he said. Although Southgate acknowledged that England had momentum, he was devasted after yet another loss in the Euro finals. Naturally, the question arises – will Southgate now quit?

Tony Bellew prays this is not it for Gareth Southgate although it is tough to digest the fact that they were so close to winning the cup against Spain. So, taking to X, the former British boxer wrote, “Gutted!! Heartbreak for us once again! People won’t like this but I hope Southgate stays!

He’s been a good England manager and has been so unlucky in 2 finals,” Tony Bellew announced. “We’ve gotta take the positives and learn from this. This squad will win something under Southgate if he stays I believe,” he prayed, expecting Gareth Southgate’s commitment to England.

But, on the other hand, former footballer Alan Shearer feared Gareth Southgate would resign after the 2-1 loss to Spain.

After the defeat to the young Spanish squad, Gareth Southgate acknowledged that the British footballers were deserving of enormous credit as they reached the final, having defeated other competitive teams. However, the 53-year-old wishes his players took their chances while on the field for 90 minutes. So now, going by Southgate’s reaction to the loss, Alan Shearer said, “I suspect Gareth Southgate may have had enough. It is a tough, grueling job. I suspect it will be Southgate’s last game.
