Former 5 division champion and boxing great Floyd Mayweather might go down as one of the most influential athletes of his generation on and off the court. As his name suggests ‘Money’ is a savvy businessman along with being one of the best boxers ever. This has turned him into a role model for all athletes that will now follow in his footsteps.

However, despite being the richest boxer in the world it seems Mayweather is still expanding on his wealth as he revealed a new project that could earn billions over the course of a year.

In an interview, Mayweather revealed that he has invested in luxury properties across New York, as he looks to get into the real estate business. Moreover, he stated that these investments could earn him over $300 million in just one month which amounts to $3.6 billion a year. However, he added that all of his investments were not fully funded by him.

 

In 36 months of course, with one of my new investments, I would make $300 million a month. Just real estate, I’m heavy on real estate even though I got my own liquid, that means cash for those of you who don’t know, I’ll break it down in Lehman’s terms. I got a lot of cash. OPM(Other People’s Money). You don’t always have to use your own money.” he said

While Mayweather might have distributed his investments he also distributed the risk that comes with investing. Moreover, if “Money’ can be taken for his word, this investment would yield him more money than the highest-paid soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo will make in a year.

It was revealed that the Portuguese player is set to earn $214 million this year. Moreover, he is over $150 million clear of the next highest player Kylian Mbappe. The rise in Ronaldo’s salary could be attributed to his last move to the Saudi club Al-Nassr from Manchester United.

Ronaldo has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the club, which has showered him with ridiculous amounts of money. However, this still pales in comparison with Mayweather’s earnings showing how business can be used to add wealth for athletes.
