Undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez was in the limelight during the 2022 Qatar World Cup for all the wrong reasons. The Mexican boxer feuded with soccer star Lionel Messi after he allegedly stepped on the Mexican flag following Argentina’s victory over the country in the group stages. ‘Saul’ was quick to call out Messi and also threatened to physically harm him. However, he would face severe backlash from people all around the world and was forced to tone down his messages towards the Argentinian star.

He also released a statement apologizing for his actions and claimed it was only for the love of his country. Moreover, it looks like Alvarez is ready to move on from this saga after he was featured in a brand-new ad for Super Bowl LVIl. Alvarez has been ranked as the 5th best pound-for-pound boxer in the world right now.

Canelo Alvarez gets featured in Michelob Ultra’s Super Bowl ad

The Mexican boxer is featured in an advertisement for Michelob Ultra where he is seen riding a golf caddy. The message in the video claimed that the company would take over ‘The big game in February’ i.e., the Super Bowl. Golf has been Alvarez’s sport of choice when he is not boxing so it wasn’t surprising for him to see him in a golf caddy.

However, it looked like the fans weren’t still over the whole Messi saga as they trolled ‘Saul’ mercilessly for this commercial reacting to it in the comments sections.

Fans troll Canelo Alvarez’s new commercial

One fan stated that Alvarez promised people food which is why there were so many Argentinians there. “Canelo promised pantries, that’s why there are so many Argentines here,” they wrote.

Another fan claimed that Messi was a better driver than Alvarez. “Messi drives better,” they wrote.

A fan even went as far as calling Messi the best ever who held Argentina on his back. “Messi is the best in history and hold on ARGENTINA. (DATA NOT OPINIONS AND I DO NOT READ CRYERS),” they wrote.

However, one fan still felt that Alvarez was better than Messi. “Canelo > Messi,” they wrote.

Lastly, a fan stated that life without golf felt empty for Alvarez. “No Golf No Life,” he wrote.

The fans certainly are not done with trolling Alvarez for his comments on Messi. However, this feud has run its course with both athletes now moving forward. Moreover, with Alvarez now being pushed to face David Benavidez, Messi would be the last thing on his mind.
