Canelo Alvarez is all set to enter the boxing ring against the younger Charlo brother, Jermell. The fight comes rather as a surprising turn of events. It was earlier reported that an anticipated Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez-Jermall Charlo bout would not happen. The latter excused himself, citing personal reasons. However, his brother stepped in to complete the bout. Jermell is going up two weight classes to compete against Canelo. As Canelo gears himself for his next fight, he has also taken a step back to indulge in some golf.

The American Celebrity Golf Tournament is currently underway on the shores of Lake Tahoe in Edgewood. Canelo Alvarez is also participating in the golf tournament along with some other high-profile celebrities that come from backgrounds in not just boxing but also the UFC and NFL. However, even on the course, the boxer did not forget his roots and ended up leaving an NFL legend scared!

In a video uploaded to Alvarez’s Instagram stories, the boxing world champion seemed as though he was getting all warmed up to throw some punches in the ring as he set to shadow fight on the golf course. He was joined by Super Bowl legend Patrick Mahomes, who threw some punches in the air right opposite him before he backed off, slightly scared of the boxing great!

Canelo Alvarez is entering the ring against Jermell as he still rides proudly on his previous victory over John Ryder on May 6. However, Mahomes too seemed to be celebrating his team’s second Super Bowl win in the last four years this past season. At the golf event, both have done pretty well given their regular engagements with the sport. They were both out of the top 50. Canelo tied for 56th on minus-1 after the first round, and Mahomes, two shots behind him, tied for 63rd. However, it was NBA star Steph Curry who led the way. He took a four-point lead into the weekend.

The Canelo vs. Benavidez fight is fast approaching

Boxing enthusiasts have been desperately awaiting a clash between Canelo and someone befitting of his experience and prowess. He is known to take on challenging opponents. Like his earlier bout with Ryder and the canceled one with Jermall. However, fans do not seem that enthusiastic about the fight against Jermell. Now, in a much more exciting turn of events, we see a ray of hope. More details of a possible bout between Canelo Alvarez and David Benavidez have emerged.
