WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán is a huge football fan. He once stated, “Football has had great coincidences over the years, and for me, it was something that always brought me closer to my dad,” while discussing the 2024 Super Bowl. For him, one of his earliest childhood memories traces back to a random Sunday in 1976, when his father, Don José Sulaimán, the longest-serving president of the WBC, took him to watch the Super Bowl clash between the Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Since then, the president of the WBC has been a loyal supporter of the Cowboys and has stayed with the team. Mauricio Sulaiman describes himself as a “long-suffering fan” since their Super Bowl trophy drought which began 27 years ago. Sulaiman has been with the team and has seen the lowest of the lows. But as Dallas suffered their fourth loss of the season in NFC against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, left him broken as he showcased his disappointment online.

Sulaiman took to his ‘X’ and wrote, “I don’t think there is anything worse than being a @dallascowboys fan.” The devastating 30-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers has put the Cowboys in third position in the NFC East, behind the 5-2 Commanders and the 4-2 Eagles. Dallas’ defense was once again questioned and the frustration amongst the fans was quite evident.

It also seems like the frustration has reached the Cowboys’s camp as well, as cornerback Trevon Diggs confronted reporter Mike Leslie right after a game for a tweet by the latter. While Dallas has been inconsistent the past few years, this particular season has been quite frustrating for both fans and the team. Major injuries to Micah Parsons and DaRon Bland, poor defensive performances, and questionable decisions by management have left the fans already accepting their fate.
The defeat against the 49ers was quite disappointing, as San Francisco was also without their key players in the form of Christian McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk, and Talanoa Hufanga. With this loss, the Cowboys now have a minus-48 point differential this season, and with their fall to 3-4, this is their worst start since 2020.

The loss has also caused Sulaimán to criticize the Cowboys’ star QB Dak Prescott, who once again had a disappointing outing on Sunday.

Dak Prescott called out for his performance
Prescott’s struggles were quite visible on Sunday. While he threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns, he also tossed two crucial interceptions and only completed 25 out of 38 passes. Mauricio Sulaiman, expressing his frustration, wrote, “Just bench Dak . Cannot be any worse than what it is,” as the quarterback was like a shell of his past performances and the abysmal defensive performance overshadowed his offensive contribution of two touchdowns.
Prescott tried to ensure fans of the future and calm things down in the post-match press conference as he stated, “Nobody is shaken or giving up.” But his words of motivation fell on deaf ears as fans were not happy with the lack of commitment or the weak explanation that tried to tide over a dismal performance.
