Commanders' loss to Buccaneers: Is it time for a major overhaul in Washington?

Jake Paul is on cloud nine right now. Why? Well, the influencer-turned-boxing sensation made a very lucrative decision ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Washington Commanders game today. But what exactly did ‘The Problem Child’ do? The 27-year-old Cleveland native had Buccaneers wide receiver, Mike Evans, on his fantasy team.

And if you were watching the game today, you would know Evans absolutely balled out. The 31-year-old had five receptions for 61 yards and two touchdown grabs. Not to mention, Evans had two of his catches produce first downs, as the Buccaneers won their 2024 season opener at Raymond James Stadium with 37-20 on the final scoreboard.

However, it was Evans’ first touchdown in the second quarter, extending the Bucs’ 6-0 lead, that secured Paul a $50K win on his fantasy team with Betr. His sports betting company shared a clip of the exact moment Paul realized he had won and began celebrating Evans’ performance on X. Betr captioned the video, “POV: you drafted Mike Evans in the 4th round and he is balling tf out.”

Aside from his latest NFL winnings, Paul is set to step into the ring against legendary heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson on November 14th at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. This will be the biggest fight of his career as he faces Tyson in an eight-round, two-minute-per-round showdown. In a surprising twist, however, ‘El Gallo’ might be considering a transition to the NFL after this big fight.

A few days ago, the 27-year-old boxer took to X during the historic Green Bay Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles game in Brazil, where he didn’t hold back his criticism of the players. While the Eagles managed to pull off a 34-29 win, Paul remained unimpressed and claimed he would easily make it in the NFL.

“And this game proves why it’s going to be easy for me to go to the NFL. So much mediocrity, lack of professionalism, and very low IQ,” Paul tweeted, taking shots at athletes like Jalen Hurts, Jordan Love, and Saquon Barkley. While Paul’s confidence is no surprise, his claim that joining the NFL would be easy has raised eyebrows. Football’s physical demands and strategic complexity require more than just bravado from the 27-year-old.

That said, even if Jake Paul doesn’t make it to the NFL, which he feels will be a cakewalk, ‘The Problem Child’ can’t stop making money from it. Did you put money on the Buccaneers vs. Commanders game? How much did you win?
