Claressa Shields had enough. The American boxer has come to the aid of Travis Hunter after the online hate left the NFL star devastated. It even pushed him to delete his Instagram handle to protect his girlfriend. While there has been no word about the decision, he could have done it to escape the negativity. The whole incident has left many fans and pros seething with anger and frustration, and ‘GWOAT’ is no different.
It all started when the fans tore apart Leanna Lenee for her behavior at the Heisman Trophy ceremony. The fans saw her stay seated while the whole crowd stood up and applauded Hunter as he collected the Heisman trophy. The situation didn’t change even when Deion Sanders, the Buffaloes head coach, nudged her. After that, Lenee gave Hunter a brief hug before taking her seat again. This drew a lot of flak from the hardcore fans, and the scathing criticism didn’t stop.
Shields, 29, took to her X handle and took the Buffaloes star’s side. She blasted the fans for meddling with the lovely couple’s life and even pushed Hunter to the brink of deleting his Instagram account. She wrote, “This why I go off on y’all and hurt yall feelings! Why tf are you y’all trolling TRAVIS HUNTER for! Leave him tf alone! If he love the girl let him love her! Always in other mfs business! He too nice to yall a**! Mind yall MF’N business! Lenee herself had tried to put up a defense for herself as she took on TikTok to share her side of the story. She said, “People are saying that I’m like, ‘What am I supposed to do? Just sit here?’ That’s not what I said, first of all.” She then detailed how fans were making wrong interpretations of a 7-second-long video.
