After his fight against Regis Prograis, Devin Haney is struggling a bit for his next opponent. Haney has tried to prompt Gervonta Davis for a fight and nothing of substance has materialized. Later, he got into the negotiation phase with Ryan Garcia, but even ‘KingRy’ backed out after getting to know about the PPV sales of Haney-Prograis.
Amidst this, Bill Haney has been trying his hardest to get his son a valuable fight. Now, he’s taken a different narrative route, as he stated that most of the fighters are ducking his son and are scared of his might. Recently, in a statement, he took a jab at all the fighters who have pulled out from fighting Haney, and to everybody’s surprise, in the same statement, he even slammed the Baltimore Ravens.

Bill Haney slams boxers who are “running from Devin”
Devin Haney managed to defeat Regis Prograis via a unanimous decision, and since then he’s talked about multiple opportunities that he could take up for his future. Alongside Garcia and Davis, he and his father Bill Haney have also tried to look at the option of moving up to the welterweight. Bill Haney also looked out for the option to get a fight against none other than Terence Crawford.

Besides this, in a recent Instagram Live, Bill Haney has confirmed that currently, his son doesn’t have an opponent lined up. As he said, “Everybody should be grabbing no crack bite. Whether they’re running from Devin or if the Baltimore Ravens has lost the Super Bowl, you know, say no to crack.” Despite entering the AFC Championship Game with the league’s best record and a reputation as the dominant force, the Baltimore Ravens faced a devastating home defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The highly anticipated matchup took an unexpected turn as they succumbed to a 17-10 loss. Also, it’s to be noted that Davis hails from Baltimore, and that could be the reason behind Bill’s remarks against the Ravens. However, despite all the back-and-forth, it seems that the Garcia-Haney fight might be up for consideration yet again.
Ryan Garcia might eventually fight Devin Haney
In the middle of twists and turns, the potential clash between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney has taken center stage in the boxing world. Following Garcia’s initial call-out in December, Haney, a two-weight world champion, confirmed ongoing negotiations between both fighters’ teams. However, Garcia decided to pursue a fight with WBA champion Rolly Romero instead.

The situation appears dynamic, with negotiations now back on track. At least that’s what Haney’s promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed.

In an interview with Boxing Social, Hearn said, “Ryan wants to be in a big pay-per-view, and if you look at his options Haney is there to be made. I messaged Ryan last night and said your timing is great because I’m going to Las Vegas tomorrow and Devin and [Haney’s father and coach] Bill are there.”

So, Garcia might try negotiating the fight once again, since Rolly Romero backed down from the Garcia fight and is now fighting another rival of ‘The Flash’, Isaac Cruz. So, Garcia will be coming back home to Haney to finalize a fight. What are your thoughts about this? Tell us in the comments section.
