The sport of boxing has often been credited for giving birth to several cinematic masterpieces like the Rocky franchise. To date, the story of a man who fought against fate to become a champion boxer is regarded as one of the greatest sporting depictions ever. Fans react to Sylvester Stallone being disappointed with Rocky spin-off
Stallone conceived, wrote, and starred in the legendary movie. The Academy Award-winning movie instantly became a classic and gave rise to many sequels as well as spin-off movies in ‘Creed’. However, because of financial troubles, Stallone sold the rights to the film to Irwin Winkler in 1976 for $350,000.
I’d like to congratulate Irwin Winkler and family beating another wonderful character into the ground! # no shame https://t.co/dy2TEkqCni

Recently, another spin-off movie revolving around the Russian character Ivan Drago was announced that enraged Stallone; he expressed his dismay on Twitter. However, fans weren’t too kind to the Hollywood legend. One fan called Stallone a “f****ing clown” and said, “I can’t wait to watch it, you’re just mad you ain’t getting that money.”
You're fucking clown shoes. I can't wait to watch it, you're just mad you ain't getting that money……and you shouldn't 😂 https://t.co/RAL3KClix8

Another fan stated,” I don’t feel bad for rich people missing out on money” and Stallone should “quit crying.” Notably, a few others pinned the entire situation on the actor.
Additionally, one fan, in particular, highlighted the irony in Stallone’s complaints, as he has already made many sequels with different franchises.
I don’t feel bad for rich people missing out on money. You sold the rights, quit crying 😢 https://t.co/2IymOBg4BY

Wrote 8 movies featuring Rocky Balboa. 4 with John Rambo. Why is a third with Ivan the line in the sand? https://t.co/KDKvtA7pqt

However, not everyone was against the Academy Award winner. Some fans are of the notion that “Rocky belongs to Sly” and, out of respect for Stallone, they “won’t support this project.”

Although some fans had Stallone’s back in this debacle, the majority of fans voiced out against Stallone and expressed their interest in the new Ivan Drago spin-off.
Sylvester Stallone’s role in boxing
The Hollywood legend brought to the world one of the greatest sporting movies of all time. In 1976, more than four decades ago, Stallone birthed the idea of a movie about a loser-turned-champion boxer. Additionally, a real-life boxer named Chuck Wepner was the inspiration behind the movie.

According to Stallone, he got the idea from watching Wepner go head to head against the legend himself, Muhammad Ali. Wepner struck the champion with a hard blow after Ali beat him to a pulp for eight rounds straight. Moreover, the crowd went from booing him to cheering him. Consequently, the display of resilience inspired an incredible movie franchise.
