Matchroom Boxing president Eddie Hearn has given his opinion on the step-aside money ahead of the impending Trilogy bout between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury. According to reports, Wilder has no desire to step aside for Anthony Joshua so that the two could have an all-Brit unification bout. However, this hasn?t stopped Eddie Hearn from predicting what would happen if? he accepted the deal.

“Of course it would be showing weakness. It would actually be embarrassing, to be honest. if you take step-aside money, you’re showing horrific weakness because you’re giving someone an opportunity to take what you should feel is yours ? without you getting an opportunity to win it back,” he continued. “If you believe in yourself and back yourself, you should never step aside.?Never,” said Hearn
Hearn compared Wilder?s plight to AJ?s when he lost to Andy Ruiz. Ruiz caused a major upset by knocking-out Joshua in the 7th round. However, Joshua made a comeback and dominated Ruiz in the rematch.
Tyson Fury dominated in the rematch putting a beat-down on Wilder as the rounds went by. Wilder?s corner threw in the towel at round 7, after suffering a series of knockdowns during the fight. ?The Bronze Bomber? looked like a shadow of his former self putting in a very sluggish performance.

However, with Wilder unlikely to accept step-aside money and Joshua heading towards a fight with Kubrat Pulev, it?s unlikely an all-Brit unification bout will happen soon. A fight between Joshua and Fury has been touted for ages. Given the skill set of both fighters, a unification fight is what everyone wants. However, with Wilder eager to make a comeback and Pulev a tough opponent we?ll have to wait and see how the division unfolds.
