Shakur Stevenson, aka Ash-Shakur Nafi-Shahid Stevenson, has been on the lookout for an opponent for quite a while now. Following his retirement fiasco, he started beefing with Floyd Schofield on social media, leaving fans to believe a fight could be on the horizon. However, Stevenson claimed there was only one way he would fight Schofield.
In their previous back and forth, Stevenson suggested Schofield needed to defeat an undefeated fighter before securing a fight against him. At the time, Schofield agreed to the condition. Today, however, when Stevenson proposed Abdullah Mason as an opponent for ‘Kid Austin’ on social media, Schofield seemingly ducked the fight, collecting backlash from the boxing people.

Turning to X (formerly Twitter), Stevenson wrote, “Abdullah ready. What’s the word champ (Floyd Schofield)? Let’s set a different standard for our sport. Talk to me, champ.” Stevenson even shared a poster for their potential fight, with both fighters facing each other. However, ‘Kid Austin’ had other ideas when he found the tweet.
Responding to Stevenson’s fight proposal against undefeated Abdullah Mason, Schofield stated, “Change that photo to me and you. You know I would stop you by the 4th.” Mason and Schofield have very similar records and would have indeed made a fair matchup, but his disagreement with the offer was seen as fear of losing.
So, the boxing world did not take kindly to Schofield’s response.
Floyd Schofield becomes public enemy number one
Some may see Schofield’s response as being eager to take on the bigger fish, but fans in this comment section had other ideas. While some tried to reason with Schofield, others criticized him for rejecting a totally valid offer. One user didn’t waste time questioning the 21-year-old, asking whether he was scared of Mason. Notably, their similar resume would make it a perfect fight for both.
You scared of Abdullah? Fight another high level prospect lmao not like u earned the title shot this a great fight for resume and good offer.

Another user advised Schofield not to avoid the Mason fight. It’s worth mentioning that Shakur Stevenson had previously claimed Mason was one of the best prospects in boxing.

Someone else held up a mirror to Schofield, highlighting he was nothing more than a prospect while Stevenson is a three-division champion. Interestingly, Schofield has never held a major title in his career thus far, which makes sense since he hasn’t had that many fights to begin with.
You’re a prospect fam tryna fight an established 3 div champ n p4p top 10 fighter. Fight Abdullah fam he’d give you that work
