It was a fight for the books. It went as per popular predictions. Canelo Alvarez brought everything he held in his mettle against his opponent, Jermell Charlo. The coveted T-Mobile Arena of Las Vegas saw the two of them battle it out with all the vehemence they could muster. But as the rounds progressed, spectators just knew what was to come.
With his lethal blows taking the best of Charlo, the latter too fell short in grappling with the avalanche. While most called for a knockout, the fight, however, pulled through till the end. As the 12th round elapsed, it was clear that Alvarez had done it. The Mexican fighter had successfully defended his undisputed super-middleweight title against Charlo. Just hours into the nail-biting crusade that undertook its course in the boxing ring, boxing legends have heralded the post-fight discourse.
T-Mobile Arena saw an entourage of boxing legends assemble by the ring. As the bell rang, and the fighters took their strikes, the celebrity fighters awaited to see if their predictions met reality. The entire boxing realm had descended to see the adept fighters claim their prowess in the ring. But in the end, Canelo Alvarez managed to maintain his name in the business.

Charlo loses Terence Crawford, but the latter still hopes a Canelo Alvarez fight
Unified champion of the welterweight division, Terence Crawford came down heavily at Charlo. While walking out of the venue, ‘Bud’ said, “Man Charlo gave him too much respect man. Too much. He didn’t fight his fight.”
Elaborating further on his X profile, the fighter said, ” Ok y’all I’m over @TwinCharlo he’s no longer on my hit list. He went out there and laid down and let Canelo spank him like he was his daddy with no type of resistance.”

However, Canelo’s impressive sustenance in the ring might have just made Bud’s yearning to fight him stronger. Commending the Mexican fighter’s performance, Bud said, “Congratulations @Canelo you made the so called lion look like a baby cub.” As reporters nudged Bud to reveal if he still hopes to fight Canelo, the boxer maintained, “I didn’t know if he was scared or not, but Canelo did a tremendous job in there. He did what he had to do.”
Terence Crawford had earlier expressed his desire to fight Canelo Alvarez. But the latter had not agreed to the fight, claiming that going down the weights to meet Bud would be detrimental to his career and health.
Charlo did not meet Claressa Sheilds’ expectations
‘Greatest Woman of all Times’ Claressa Sheilds had earlier come out in support of Charlo. The champion had hoped to see him go home victorious. But she was given a scathing reality check tonight. Post the fight, when the clouds of expectations drifted to give a clear sight of the reality, Sheilds said, “I think that Charlo kinda let Canelo do whatever he wanted. He didn’t counter, he did the great. He had great movement.” She further added, “He had a great jab, but he didn’t go to the body enough. He didn’t start early enough.”
However, most also think that the fact that he sustained in the ring till the end speaks volumes of Charlo’s abilities. Shields agrees. The fighter commended him for not just going up two weight classes to clash against Canelo but also for having the gumption to undertake such a fight. She said, “He didn’t let his hands go so you know, but he did good to be a 154 pounder going to 168 and dealing with the power. But I just expected more.”
Roy Jones Jr. sees through Canelo Alvarez victory
Canelo vs. Charlo was one of the most anticipated fights of this year. Former professional boxer and now celebrity trainer, Roy Jones Jr., was all in awe of the Mexican fighter. He said, “Canelo had a great performance. He showed tonight that he’s back and he means it. He’s back with a purpose, and umm, a lot of people wrote him off but he’s not ready to be written off yet.”
Taking his kind words for Canelo Alvarez further, he said, “You know, and it’s like in boxing they always want to say a loss or two and you throw boxes out to the pastor, but that’s now how it goes if a boxer still got it. He should be still allowed to compete and Canelo showed that he’s still one of the elite fighters in the 168 division.”
