One of the year’s major disappointments was the cancellation of the highly anticipated Jake Paul vs Hasim Rahman Jr. showdown. However, a recently released sparring video gave an insight into how the bout would have turned out.

Paul was scheduled to face Rahman at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City on August 6, 2022. But, the bout was canceled after Rahman Jr. could not meet the weight for the fight.

Meanwhile, Paul released a full-length video of the duo engaged in a sparring session.

The almost 20-minute-long footage showed Paul landing a few good punches on Rahman Jr. However, there was no denying that Paul was visibly struggling against the highly skilled boxer. In fact, Rahman Jr. looked like he was having a breezy field day while demonstrating his technical prowess.

Fans react to the Jake Paul vs Hasim Rahman Jr. sparring session

Boxing fans were impressed by Hasim Rahman Jr’s performance against Jake Paul in the sparring session. In fact, many fans did not hold back on letting their thoughts out.

User Gen Dit Commando felt that Rahman Jr. was technically superior to Paul. The user said, “Jake must be high if he thinks Hasim Was putting in any effort for this! Seems like he was actually trying to help Jake and allow him to improve.”

In the same vein, user Lonely Sandwich also nodded in agreement. The user said, “Jacob was going 100% while Hasim was just coaching him through the spar.”

Meanwhile, user Wildcat felt that Paul proved Rahman Jr’s point right, saying, “Rahman Jr was right, he didn’t turn southpaw once the entire sparring session… He was handicapped the entire time… He fights in southpaw … Jake Paul is a liar.”

Similarly, user Dose At Joseph also mentioned that Rahman Jr. was right. He said, “Hasim Rahman used only his left hand during the entire sparring session (only very few times which seemed to be an impulse) like he said. And he didn’t fight southpaw like he usually does. That’s the handicap Hasim was talking about.”

Meanwhile, user Ryan said, “You’ve shown nothing apart from the fact you struggled against him at 50%.”

User Coney Island Hotdog also noticed Paul struggling and said, “Rahman was literally going 50%. You just proved his point.”

A few users quickly pointed out that Paul proved Rahman Jr’s point. User Geo69me literally wrote, “Thanks for proving our point and saving us our money.”

There is no denying that Rahman Jr. is an individual with formidable skill. And how Paul will fare against him in a real fight will surely be a sight to see.
