Twice Mike Tyson faced Evander Holyfield inside the professional ring. In the first fight, fought in 1996, champion Tyson suffered an 11th-round TKO after Holyfield rattled ‘Kid Dynamite’ with a left hook to the head and a powerful straight right hand to the chin. Following this loss, Tyson challenged Holyfield to a rematch in June 1997. Having been overpowered from the beginning, Tyson took recourse to biting his opponent. As a result, he was disqualified.
While Tyson, who bemoaned the fact that his children didn’t watch his fights, could never beat ‘The Real Deal’, the former undisputed Heavyweight champion Riddick Bowe defeated Holyfield twice. Bowe’s last fight against Holyfield was in 1995 and he won the contest via a TKO in the ring. Nearly three decades later, Bowe is now looking forward to finding the next memorable Heavyweight champion in the sport.
