Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul has kept the internet buzzing and the fans debating about the fight. However, all the traction hasn’t been positive. While there are calls of it being a mismatch, the event is supposed to do well financially. But there is one thing that has bugged the likes of David Benavidez, which can spoil the event for viewers.
‘The Mexican Monster,’ who has developed a close bond with both Mike Tyson and ‘The Problem Child,’ believes the event slated for July 20 would be “crazy”. Notably, the fight can become the most-watched boxing match in recent history as Netflix’s 250+ million subscribers may tune in for the event. But things might escalate quickly if Tyson, 57, huffs and puffs against a 30-year younger opponent. Despite Tyson’s accolades as a boxing champion, there is one thing that might hinder his performance. What is it?

Benavidez, 27, appeared in an interview with Cigar Talks and shared his honest take on Tyson vs. Paul. While he heaped praise on the former heavyweight champion’s heart as a fighter, Tyson’s age worried him. He said, “Jake vs. Mike is crazy. It’s going be [a] good fight. I feel like the only thing that worries me is Mike Tyson’s age. But Mike Tyson is always going to be a fighter at heart, you know what I mean.”
The WBC Interim super middleweight fighter continued and explained how it depended on how Tyson prepared for it. He also mentioned that Paul had to be ready to face Tyson. Benavidez added, “So it’s really just how he prepares, and it’s going to be a good fight. Jake Paul, I think he knows that it’s Mike Tyson. You gotta get ready. So we’ll see how it turns out.”
Benavidez, at 28-0 with 24 KOs, then hoped nothing “crazy” transpired in the fight. But he also expressed that if Tyson produced a competitive performance and gave Paul “a good fight,” then he wouldn’t be surprised. He concluded, “I think it’s going to be good, bro. Mike, like I said, he’s a world champion. He’s a fighter at heart, you know what I mean. So, I think it’s going to be a good fight.”

Paul makes his case against ‘Iron Mike’
Despite Tyson’s age, very few have favored Jake Paul to bag a win at AT&T Stadium come July. However, according to the YouTuber-turned-boxer, it was a 50-50 contest. He then proceeded to list down the factors that might work in his favor.
Paul said on his podcast, “But to the people that don’t think I’m going to win, it’s like I’m younger, faster, sharper, and can hit at the same levels that he can. And be able to take his punches.” It remains to be seen how Tyson’s age would affect his stamina, movement, and supposedly diminished power against Paul and to what extent.
