Did Bivol get robbed, or was Beterbiev the rightful winner? Let's hear your thoughts!

It’s an interesting watch—showing impeccable class and offering no excuses, Dmitry Bivol accepted his loss in the most gracious manner. At Riyadh’s Kingdom Arena, Artur Beterbiev finally ended his twenty-three-win streak and became light heavyweight’s new undisputed champion. But it seems, outside the ring, Bivol’s fans want to continue the fight.

A fierce debate erupted across the boxing world, especially on social media following Bivol’s maiden defeat. Everyone seems to agree that it was a hard-fought contest. But considering how he had been the busier of the boxers and in several rounds managed to nullify Beterbiev’s piercing attack, many feel that Bivol deserved the win. Now it appears the heat is turning on even those who risked commenting on the historical clash. Apparently unhappy with Tim Bradley‘s discourse, Gillie Da Kid decided to have a go at the former world champion. The clip of the rapper lambasting the former world champion appears to be going viral now.

At his passionate best, Gillie Da Kid defended Dmitry Bivol’s performance. However, he had more to say about the eventual outcome and the overall commentary, which he felt was quite misleading. “Man, they just robbed the sh*t out of Bivol man, Beterbiev f**king win,” said the rapper. But it seemingly irked him when, despite Bivol having close to five rounds in his kitty, the only name Tim Bradley could muster was that of Beterbiev.

Gillie Da Kid said, “I’m like the f**king network must want this motherf**ker to win cuz what the f**k is he talking about?” Thoroughly frustrated, he argued that such instances where the rightful winner is denied his chance at glory have led to fans bailing out of the sport.

Rounding back to the ‘Desert Storm’, he continued, “And Tim Bradley, you’re a BULLSH*T A** commentator! You a F**KING company man! Get the F**K out of here! You all in there, ‘Beterbiev, Beterbiev, Beterbiev.’ WHAT F**KING FIGHT WAS YOU LOOKING AT?! You got punched too many F**KING times!

Gillie Da Kid’s reaction might have surprised many. Earlier, when he was speaking with ESPN, Bradley reportedly went for a Bivol win. In fact, he had Bivol winning even at the time when the fight was first scheduled for June 1. But it met with cancellation and later postponement to the current date following Beterbiev’s injury.

Ways to win and ways to decide

My original pick, before Beterbiev needed surgery, was a Bivol win. He has better footwork, defense, an incredible jab, and sharp counters,” said Bradley. However, he stressed that if Dmitry Bivol managed to restrain Beterbiev to the ring center, denying him the spare to apply pressure, and moved around so as not to get caught by Beterbiev in pockets, then he stood a chance of winning the fight. “However, it’s easier said than done. But I will go with Bivol,” concluded the former two-division champion and International Hall of Boxing famer.

Robbery, injustice, and lack of fair play might appear as a bit far-fetched narrative in the story. However, as Carl Froch and many other observers, who also appear to have been taken away by the scorecard, opined, a draw could have been a reasonable conclusion. In fact, the status quo would have gone a long way in cementing the argument for a rematch.
