Ryan Garcia vs. Shakur Stevenson: Who's the real deal in the ring?

Despite beating Artem Harutyunyan last weekend, Shakur Stevenson isn’t done throwing jabs! But this time, the blows are verbal and the target is Ryan Garcia. After somewhat of an uneventful clash with Harutyunyan, the Newark native seems to have gone on an explosive rant on several critics. Ryan Garcia just got in the way.

Stevenson was already under pressure after his abysmal performance against Edwin De Los Santos last year, and his last fight didn’t do anything to improve his image. So, the undefeated lightweight scoped in at Tim Bradley and Mark Kriegel through his tweet on X, which eventually led to the spat with Garcia.

Stevenson began by writing, “Tim Bradley starting off saying how he truly felt on the air and then the higher powers told him switch that energy up..” Interestingly, after the fight, Timothy Bradley told Fight Hype that fans would have liked it if Stevenson stopped Harutyunyan in his tracks for the entertainment value, but Stevenson missed the opportunity.

Bradley even added that Stevenson is very defensive, so he doesn’t like to take much damage and later claimed Gervonta Davis is the only one who could beat Stevenson. Regardless, Stevenson continued, “My boy Kriegal jumped in the ring and asked mostly negative questions cause the higher powers told him to do so, Tough game stay strong out here”. During the in-ring interview with Stevenson, Kriegel highlighted how the crowd was booing the fight, which Stevenson attributed to Harutyunyan avoiding engagement.

Yet things got spicier when Ryan Garcia responded to the tweet, writing, “No Timothy Bradley just s**ks your n*tz everytime you fight, truth is he needs to be fired and should keep it [100%] with the fans”. Later, adding that everyone knows “You are terrified in that ring. You fight like a scared man and punch like a p***sy”. This, of course, enraged Stevenson further, who jumped back on X to respond. Stevenson hit back writing, “Ryan Osterine Garcia stop cheating your way thru life, Your on a 1 year vacation be happy the higher powers didn’t punish u for longer cause u deserve a 5 year suspension”.

However, things didn’t end there! Stevenson claimed if he were Devin Haney or Bill Haney, Garcia wouldn’t be “breathing intentionally”. Meanwhile, someone else has also taken digs at the 27-year-old boxer.

Teofimo Lopez didn’t watch Stevenson’s fight

There were in total three events on 6th July: the Stevenson vs. Harutyunyan fight, the William Zepeda vs. Giovanni Cabrera fight, and the Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal fight. The last one seems to have caught Teofimo Lopez’s interest, as he was at the Honda Center in Anaheim to watch the UFC legends go head to head.

While leaving the arena with his entourage, Lopez ran into ES News, where he spoke about Stevenson’s fight, and let’s just say ‘Sugar’ won’t like what Lopez said. “I didn’t see his fight because we’re over here in Fanmio enjoying this fight. You know, actually really entertainment boxing”.
