Devin Haney has filed a lawsuit against Ryan Garcia, alleging that Garcia’s actions have damaged his reputation and resulted in a significantly reduced purse bid for his mandatory fight against Sandor Martin. Haney contends that Garcia’s alleged cheating to secure a victory has adversely affected both his financial standing and mental health. Yet Haney turned to social media today, sharing glimpses of his opulent lifestyle.

Following Garcia’s recent 1-year suspension from the New York State Athletics Commission, Haney made the decision to pursue the lawsuit. This move has ignited a wave of outrage and criticism towards the former undisputed lightweight champion within the boxing community. So today, Haney took to social media to voice his thoughts on the widespread criticism directed at him.

Turning to Instagram, ‘The Dream’ Haney took to social media to flaunt his extravagant lifestyle. He shared a plethora of photos featuring himself decked in expensive branded clothing, adorned with jewelry worth millions upon millions of dollars. His luxurious Rolls Royce cars provided the perfect backdrop as he struck confident poses for the camera, exuding opulence and extravagance in every shot.

Alongside the pictures, Haney quoted himself, “[The] hate only make[s] me bigger”. Haney has been a rather antagonistic personality in the community for quite a while—whether because of his weird attempt at trash talking Vasyl Lomachenko, or all the close decision bouts he has won over the years. Regardless, the statement from Haney didn’t sit well with the fans, which became evident in the comment section.

Fan compares Haney to Adrien Broner

Since the post went live, a plethora of fans have poured in to express their disdain with the former champion. One user seems to think Haney’s career is done for after the Ryan Garcia loss. The user wrote, “This guy really thinks he’s back on the trajectory he was on before the Ryan fight. Lol no way homie”. While this could be true for the moment, Haney could always face an elite opponent and defeat him to regain his lost glory.

Another user thought Devin Haney was heading down the same path as Adrien Broner. “You are gonna Be fighting the same Place Adrien Broner fought pretty soon, you are pitiful”, wrote the user. Notably, Broner has always been a polarizing figure known for his outspoken demeanor. Despite attempting multiple comebacks, his career has faltered due to several defeats. Most recently, a loss to Blair Cobbs has reignited concerns about his future in the sport.

The next user highlighted Haney could be in some sort of delusion, writing, “Bro got beat and think he won”. While he didn’t win, he did get his zero back after the NYSAC turned the Ryan Garcia fight win to a no contest.

Someone else highlighted how they started becoming a Devin Haney hater, commenting, “You getting dropped 3 times made me a hater”. Actually, Haney had gotten dropped a few more times during the fight, but the rest weren’t counted after being declared slips.

While most people criticized ‘The Dream’, this user extended a helping hand, writing, “Lean into the hate, become the villain. It’s what Floyd did”. However, Floyd Mayweather never lost a fight in his entire career.

Despite getting what he wanted, Devin Haney remains at odds with the boxing world, as evident from the comments on the post. However, the fact of the matter is, PEDs were found in Garcia’s system, which, like it or not, made the fight unfair. So, Haney on some level is entitled to a little gloating. What do you think?
