In a couple of days, Mia St. John would turn fifty-six. But the former boxer, mixed martial artist, and model have her hands full. The Mexican-American, who has become one of the most vocal advocates championing the cause of mental health and related issues through her foundation, is raising awareness about suicide prevention besides raising funds for the drive. But she’s not alone. She is getting help from one of the most unusual corners.

She married actor Kristoff St. John in 1991. But unfortunately, the couple went separate ways in 1995. They were parents to two children, Julian and Paris. Tragedy first struck Mia St. John on November 23, 2014. Her son, long-suffering from mental illness, died by suicide. Then four years later, her former husband left the world on February 3, 2019, due to medical conditions reportedly aggravated by alcohol. After that, the former boxer and model herself waged pitched battles against insobriety.

However, her struggles haven’t subdued her passion for espousing mental health causes. She openly called out for action to improve the facilities various mental health institutions provided. Yesterday evening, she tweeted about a new charitable event set for June 30. As part of the suicide prevention awareness month, she organizes a fundraiser through her Mia St. John Foundation. She said, “Join Us for our Suicide Prevention Awareness Month Fundraiser! June 30 5pm to 7pm in #DTLA Speaker & Playboy Cover Girl @mayradiasgomes.

So Brazilian author, journalist, professional wrestler, and Playboy model Mayra Dias Gomes will grace the occasion as a special guest. According to the tweet, the thirty-five-year-old multi-talented personality would join as a ‘mental health and sobriety advocate.’ The best-selling writer reportedly has fought her fights to stay clear-headed. According to an ‘eonline’ article, she told her fans, “It’s not too late to start something new and to become the best version of yourself.

At twenty-nine, Mia St. John decided to become a professional boxer. However, the decision proved fortuitous as she became a Super Welterweight champion. In a career that spanned nearly two decades, the taekwondo black belt participated in sixty-five fights, out of which she won forty-nine, drew 2, and faced fourteen defeats.
