Years After Being Abandoned by “Pimp” Father, Mike Tyson Opens Up About the Terror of Police Brutality He Suffered During His Childhood

Mike Tyson is the exemplar of being forged by fire, he became the man he’s today because of his adversities. Tyson had a rough childhood, he had been arrested multiple times for crimes like pickpocketing and robbing stores before he even turned twelve. Tyson was left by his father when he was just a 2-year-old, and then he was raised by his mother till the age of sixteen. But his life turned around when he became the protégé of Cus D’Amato, the most fierce boxing trainer of that time. Tyson’s meeting with D’Amato was his road to redemption.

But still, at the age of 56 years old, when Mike Tyson thinks about his past life, he can clearly remember everything even after all these years. In a recent interview, Mike Tyson talked about his childhood and the sacrifices of his mother. Once in his childhood, he was saved from having a police record due to a ‘traumatizing move’ made by his mother. In his recent conversation with popular media personality Joe Budden, he shed some light on the terrors of police brutality that he had to witness at a young age.

Tyson, recently, hopped on an interview with Joe Budden, and there he opened up about his current life, boxing career, and his childhood. During their talk, Joe Budden went ahead and asked him about the intensity of police patrols during Tyson’s childhood.

Tyson talked about how the police had a lot of power in those days, and there was a lot of exploitation that came with it. Tyson replied, “The cops, they were brutal back then, comfortable back then. People were made shot by cops, I remember that happening.”

Then he also shared that his mother’s friend was also shot by the police, and he further added that his mother has always been “out there” on the streets. He said, “My father was a pimp, my mother was out there and that was my life, that’s just what I was accustomed to.”
