A few days ago, DAZN announced that the Misfits Boxing will make its debut in Doha, Qatar with X Series 19: ‘The Supercard on November 28.’ The promotional company also announced the main event involving Slim Albaher against AnEsonGib and promised a stacked undercard. While Gib and Slim delivered a fight that fans wanted to see for years, all the attention turned towards the undercard when the return of Deji Daniel Olatunji was announced.
Deji last fought in May 2023 at Wembley Stadium, where he won via unanimous decision against Brandon Scott. While DAZN has not revealed his opponent yet, the YouTuber seems motivated for his return. On Tuesday, IFL TV reposted a video of THE 27-year-old sweating hard in the gym ahead of the event. But in contrast to expectations, the fans mocked the workout routine and heavily trolled Deji.

IFL TV took to ‘X’ and reposted a short clip of Deji performing band-assisted clapping push-ups. The London native was also wearing the training mask to reduce the airflow in his lungs, which will help in increasing stamina.

It looked like Deji was almost at the end of his routine, as he was breathing very heavily and was not able to clap properly. Daley Perales shot the original video as we could see Deji training in the Trenches Boxing gym.
While Deji’s hands looked tired, struggling to perform even a single pushup, the fans were not kind in expressing their opinions. They tore down the 27-year-old boxer and mocked his workout routine brutally.
What’s your perspective on:
Can Deji finally live up to his potential, or is he destined to disappoint again?

Fans are not impressed by Deji’s training
A fan visibly confused by the workout wrote, “The strap is pulling him up w*f exercise is that,” criticizing the use of the support band. According to him, with the resistance band supporting Deji, he is doing no work by himself and the exercise becomes far easier than it is.
Another fan wrote, “Bro stop gl***ng deji he just did a few push ups,” implying that such simple workouts should not be a big deal. While the video did not include the complete routine, according to this fan, push-ups are the basic exercise that every boxer needs to do. So, one should not hype a boxer based on such exercise.

Another fan criticized the use of the support band and wrote, “Press ups with band support? Does he have weak wrists or is he obese? He’s not working at all!” He also implied that because of the resistance band, Deji does not have to use any force. According to him, the support bands are used for people with weak wrists and amateurs. But since Deji is none of those, he should not use this.
But that is not entirely true. Many boxers do band-assisted push-ups as they help strengthen the core. The use of a band helps in activating key muscle groups of the core, which helps in defense. Furthermore, if you are at the end of your workout, the use of a support band can help you push past your limits.
Unlike other fans, one user respected the workout routine and the way Deji was pushing himself but was worried about his consistency in the sport. He wrote, “Respect let’s see if he carries on unlike with every other fight.” The London native made his debut in 2018 and so far has only fought 6 times since then. So yes, he has been pretty inconsistent with his boxing career.

Amidst the sea of trollers, one fan emerged as Olatunji’s supporter as he wrote, “Deji is the best misfits boxer just watch and see.” Since his first fight against Jake Paul, fans have recognized the talent of Deji, but the YouTuber has never done justice to it. With a record of 2-4, he is far from where he should be.
But with a new motivation and outlook, the 27-year-old is ready to make its return to the boxing ring. Hopefully, this time he takes the sport seriously and does justice to his talent. What do you think about Deji’s latest workout routine video? Let us know your thoughts down below.
